The Present
The date was Tuesday, March 17th. In one week it was Jamie's 14th birthday, however, today she had to get up and go to school. She woke up to the sound of her alarm clock being an annoying reminder that she had school. So she gets up out of bed put on a pair of jeans and a black Paramore T-shirt. She grabs her phone and homework off her desk and puts her phone in her back pocket and her homework in her bag. She walks down the stairs to see a note on the counter that reads "Had to go to work early and won't be home til late Aunt Jaquelynn " Jamie just shrugged her shoulders and went into the fridge grabbed some leftover pizza from the night before. She heated it up and ate it. She looked at the time and realized she was going to be late. So she started to rush and next thing you know she was out the door and on her way to school.She got to school which ended up being fairly uneventful, along with the remainder of the week. Nothing much happened, she talked with her friends at lunch. She did her homework and turned it in. She was your average student, she never got in trouble and just kept her head down. It was a normal week for Jamie and an average weekend. In it was Monday, just one day away from the big day. Her aunt decided she could stay home today and tomorrow. Her aunt couldn't wait to give her the necklace, so she hastily handed it to her and said that she couldn't put it on until her birthday. Jamie marveled at the necklaces beauty. It was simple silver and a purple crystal, but she couldn't tell what kind of gem it was. So she asked her aunt, "What kind of gem is this?" Her Aunt's simple reply "It is a amethyst, there's more to it if you want to know." She thought about it for a second and then asked, "How could you even afford something like this?" Her thought about how to tell her that her parents were supposed to give it to her tomorrow. She thought of a way and started to tell her " Your parents were supposed to give it to you tomorrow but they couldn't so in their will they asked me if I could give it to you instead hoping that you would get it and receive the family powers. You know the necklace I wear around my neck all the time. It is what gives me my powers. They will change colors when you put them on but if you put it on before your 14th birthday, the crystal will turn red, get really hot, and explode. You will never be able to get your powers if that happens." Jamie was overloaded with the amount of information that was just put into her head. Jamie just couldn't process everything she had just heard. She started to say " How...How is this even possible? I thought I was just a regular, ordinary girl. Not some superhero teenager who has super powers. ...sigh... please tell me we at least have cool powers?" Her aunt thought that she would be more excited about her powers so she said " We have water powers, watch this." Jacqueline then proceeded to lift the water in the sink and the glass of water Jamie was drinking. She lifted it up into the air and made it disappear into a gas. Jamie just sat there and watched as her mouth hung open "We have water powers!!!" Jacqueline smiled at that and said " Yes we have water powers you can even control things as big as the ocean or the a tiny piece of snow but it takes practice. Remember what I say about school work." Jamie sighed " Don't overwhelm or over do it." Her aunt talked to her about it some more. She told her that they could go to the beach tomorrow and start to working on it. So that is what they did they both woke up around 10 o'clock, got dressed, ate breakfast and headed for the beach. At first Jamie had a hard time and got frustrated a lot. SHe couldn't grasp how to get it to work and she wasn't communicating with her aunt Jacque. She complained "I don't want to do this anymore this is unfun. It isn't fair that you can do that so easily. It just isn't fair." Jacque scoffed " You want to know what is unfair that your mom got it so easily that I thought that maybe the gift had skipped me. I hated the fact that my big sister could do it better then me. I thought it was unfair but it was only the fact is that she had been practiced for more than a year before I did. Here is a trick imagine the water is an extension of your body. Oh I almost forgot, here this is for you a letter from your parents. They left it just incase they didn't come back and well they didn't. I'm very sorry about not telling about your parents but I wasn't allowed to tell you anything, even their names because it might have caused disruption in your power." Jamie took the letter and read it. After she was done reading the letter, she wanted to know more about her parents. She wanted to know their names, what their necklaces looked like, what they looked like, how did they meet, when did they meet, where were they born. Jacque being overwhelmed said "Stop, and hold on catch your breath this is a conversation we can have at home. You need to keep practicing or you won't ever learn." Jamie got really excited and happy. She was so happy to be learning things about her parents. Jamie excitedly said " Can we go home now? I want to learn as much as possible about my parents!" Not noticing that she had lifted water out of the lake and over herself and her aunt's bodies. Her aunt said "Sure, we can go home now." Jamie still not noticing the water dropped and soaked both of them. Her aunt gave her the look like really, did that just happen. "Did you do that on purpose?" her aunt asked with annoyance in her voice. "No, I couldn't even lift a little drop of water out of the lake. What makes you think it would be me?!" she said confused. "Because emotions get the best of us and make us do things we aren't even aware of how much we can do. You need to control your emotions better, Jamie. Otherwise worse will happen, way worse." Jacque warned her. "Oh how are our emotions even tied to our powers, that is something super silly. We shouldn't have to worry if our emotions will take over. That isn't fair." she cried. "Well that's how it is, that is how it has always been and that kind of talk gets you no where besides making the wrong choices and ending up in places I can't go with you. I don't want you to and you don't need to down this road alone. Sometimes it will be hard not to do the wrong things." she stopped and as a tear fell down her cheek and fell to the sand below her feet. "What's wrong Jacque?" Jamie said with worry in her voice. "I can't help but feel your parents should be the ones to be telling you all about this, not me. I know life isn't fair but it is what is given to us and we have to work with it. Trust me everything gets easier with time." her aunt said to her. "Lets go home Jamie it has been a long day and I just need to rest and I really just want to think. So lets go home." her aunt pleaded. "Fine we can go home but only if we get something to eat." Jamie said sarcastically. They got some Dinner and went back home. They got back home and the house had been ransacked. "No, No I thought we had more time before they would find us. They probably felt the new power being added to mix, figured that if we were far enough away they wouldn't feel it." Jacque said scared and confused. "Who...Who wouldn't feel it?" Jamie said feeling scared as she asked. Unaware of what was going on, all she could keep think to herself is "Who would want to come for us? I thought we were safe. Their are bad guys coming after us now." As she thought about this he couldn't take it so she sat down on the floor and just stopped everything she was doing because she was now traumatized. Jaque notice that she was on the floor and sat next to her. She told her that everything was going to be alright and that they had to leave. She asked Jamie if she could pack a couple of things. When Jamie didn't answer her she got worried. She had heard of this happening, Jamie had frozen herself. Since the human body is mostly water when a somebody with water powers get scared the literally freeze. The only way to get them to unfreeze it to make them feel safe. In order to do that you needed to make them safer than they have ever felt, you need someone who knows them and that is Jacque. Jaque knew her the best, she could help Jamie get better but she would have to do it so or they would find her and Jamie. She could not let that happen. She grabbed some blankets and put them on the couch. She picked Jamie up and said "Everything will be alright, don't worry. I'll fix it." while putting her on the couch. Jacque knew when she woke up that she would dazed and confused. She wonder to herself if Jamie had made friends at her new school, if she had found people who cared about her as much as she did. She then took the blanket and put them on Jamie. She hoped that she could fix this before they found them. All Jacque knew is that she could never let Jamie find out who was coming after them. She knew she would have to hide until it blew over because their was no way that she could take them on herself. This wasn't the first time something like this had happened but back then Jamie didn't have her powers and she hadn't frozen herself. Jacque had to keep Jamie safe no matter what, she had to do it for Jamie...

Who is she running from? Who is Jacque? Will she be able to unfreeze Jamie? What will happen next? We shall find out....
