CHAPTER 2: OUR ALGEBRA TEACHER HAS WINGS

     I saw her.

     Our Algebra teacher.

I thought that she would not come since she somehow got offended at Mr. Ron’s explanation. But here she is now.

She was standing at the Hades section and was looking at Hades’s statue as if she wants to break it with her sharp claws. I ignored her and tried to catch up with everyone else but I realized what I had said a while ago. Sharp claws?

I turned to see her to confirm those sharp claws. I saw her still standing at the Hades section but she was not looking creepily at Hades’s statue anymore. She was looking directly at me. I tried to find those sharp claws and I saw it. No one seems to notice it since they just passed her.

She was looking directly at me; wearing her creepy smile. She gestured that I must follow her. I did follow her. I don’t know why I did but a force seems to pull me towards her.

We went into an empty room. No one was there except for me and Ms. Rufy. She started to step back. She stopped when she was 20 feet away from me.

“Die! Die, little godling!” she said. The next thing I knew, there were wings coming out of her back. Her claws became sharper and longer. It looks like she could rip my body apart. Her skin turned into a pale brown color. It look old and creepy. Fangs were seen as she opens her mouth to form a creepy smile. It brought shivers to my spine.

“Give yourself to me so that you would not die the hard way,” she let out a loud and creepy laugh. I stepped back and manage to say a, “No! I won’t.”

“Say goodbye to yourself little godling!”she started to fly towards me. Then, I felt the sudden urge to place my palm in front of me facing Ms. Rufy, who is now a really creepy monster. I closed my eyes and felt something open and I heard the sound of a running water. Ms. Rufy screamed in pain which also caused pain into my ears. It made me open my eyes.

The whole room was wet except for me. Everything was wet. Tables, cloth, and other things in this room including Ms. Rufy. She was unconscious and she was dripping wet. I suddenly realized that Ms. Rufy was now at the opposite side of the room which is very far from me.

Mr. Ron and a guy in class, named Fred, came. They were shocked as they saw the wet room.

“Fred! Bring Leigh home. Now!” Mr. Ron’s voice was full of authority. I never heard him be that serious. I picture him as a kind-hearted, calm, and patient teacher. Well, that’s too kind of me to use those compliments.

“Why? Why should I go home Mr. Ron?” I asked, a little surprised at Mr. Ron’s serious face.

“Fred wil explain on the way. Now, you two must leave now. This fury is just unconcious not dead. I can’t defeat this fury so both of you must hurry to the safest place.” I saw how Mr. Ron was very concerned. Fred and I did what we were told.

We went to my house. Fred was fast in running but is very slow when walking. My mom was surprised to see Fred.

“Hey Layla!” Fred greeted my mom which was weird. Mom nodded at him which doubles the weirdness.

“You know each other?” I asked and they just stared at me.

“Explain. Now!” I said in an irritated tone. I don’t know why I was irritated maybe it is because of the fury or the fact that my life is starting to get stranger by the minute.

“I am really sorry, honey but I did this for your own sake. Fred will explain everything to you. I’ll go grab some snacks and water,” she said. Fred and I sat on the couch. Face to face.

“Well?” I started and he stared with hesitation. He let out a deep sigh and before he could start his sentence. My mom’s phone rang.

“Hello?... Yes, he is here…. What?... Stop kidding around Chiron… Fine! Fred will take him there… Bye!” she looked terrified.

“Who was that, mom?” I asked. She looked tensed.

“That was Mr.Ron he – “ I cut her off.

“Why did you call him Chiron?” there was confusion and curiosity in my voice.

“Fred will explain on your way to camp,” I was about to cut her off again but she stopped me and continued, “You are in deep trouble Leigh. You must go now to camp. It is the only place that is safe for you. Promise me that you’ll take care of yourself,” I was about to complain but I saw her eyes pleading so I promised her.

“How about you mom?” I asked. I’m worried of what will happen to her if I leave her here all alone.

“I’ll take care of myself besides they won’t find me. I’m not a god nor a demigod so they would not sense me. But before that, here is a gift from your father. If there is a problem just uncap it. I was just finding the right time to give it to you. Now go!” I hugged her and thanked her.

Fred warned me that if we stay here longer the fury might find me and it might harm my mom. We left home and rode a bus to go to a certain strawberry farm.
