It was Reina, and she was beautiful with her blue dress. I never thought that she would also be in the same dress store on the same day. I kept my eyes on my phone but glanced at her a few times. I didn't want to make eye contact with her since I knew that my cheeks were burning red. I could feel them burning up. Finally, she turned around and looked around the store, then her eyes landed on me. I was busily scrolling through my phone, half hoping she wouldn't realize me and half hoping she would. I could feel her eyes looking at me, up and down. Then she said,

"Uh, Michael. Is that you?" I stopped scrolling through my phone and hesitated. What was I supposed to say? If I answer back, then she would ask me why I was here and I would have to tell that Megan brought me here because we were going to the dance together. "Michael?" she asked a second time. Ugh, dang it. She knew it was me.

I looked up slowly and forced an awkward smile. She looked down at me, her eyes widening as I looked up at her. There was a moment of silence, where we were both shocked and didn't know what to say. Finally, I broke my silence by saying, "Hi?"

"What are you doing here?" she asked, looking up and down at my suit.

"Ugh, I'm here shopping for the dance?" I said. There was no point in hiding anymore. I just had to tell her the truth.

"Are you going with someone?" she asked, looking down at the floor. I thought for a while.

"Ya, I am," I replied back shifting my eyes to my phone in my hand, I couldn't bare to look at her. I was scared of her reaction. It was silent once again for a while. I finally looked up. She was looking at me and smiling wearily.

"Nice! I hope you enjoy," she stated, she was still smiling, but her eyes were filled with sadness. I couldn't tell why she was sad, but I certainly didn't like it.

"You look great, by the way," I said, scratching the back of my neck. I felt my ears grow hotter. I was trying to avoid eye-contact with her. "You would get all the boys' attention," I added, looking slyly at her. Her eyes were wide in surprise, then I saw her smile a little, her cheeks becoming rosy pink. Then I felt a light punch on my shoulder. Reina was playfully punching me, her smile a little more visible. I spotted her dimple rise. I grinned back. I felt a surge of relief, seeing her happier.

Then I realized about her spraint leg.

"How's your leg?" I asked gesturing toward her leg. A proud smile spread through her face.

"I went to the doctor's this morning, and apparently, I'm cured now! I don't need to have a cast on anymore!" she stated, with excitement. It was so cute when she was in excitement...

I smiled at her and congratulated her. Then, as I was about to ask her if she was going to the dance with Josh, a woman from the store's counter called for Reina.

"It's my mom. Gotta go. See you on Monday!" she said, gathering her things from the fitting room. She jogged towards her mom, with an occasional limping motion. I smiled empathetically at her.

I went back to my fitting room and took off the suit and put back the other two suits on their racks. I looked for Megan, who was standing in another section of the store which was behind the fitting room, so she wasn't able to spot me and Reina. I felt relieved. Megan was going through a few pieces of jewelry. I pushed my navy suit towards her and told her that it was the one that suited me most.

That was the end of that. Megan had bought my suit and her dress along with some accessories. Holding the paper bag with my suit in it, I walked home. I sighed with relief as I turned at a curve, getting out of Megan's sight. I regretted what I got myself into, but I was partly glad I'd gone because I was able to meet Reina.

Once I got home, I placed my suit in my closet and jumped on my bed, pulling out my phone. There was a text from Megan, which said, "Thanks for coming along with me" with a few kissy emojis. In the notifications, I spotted Reina's name, which made my heart leap.

"Nice seeing you today! Forgot to mention, but navy suits you very well!"

My heart skipped a beat and I buried my face in my pillow, trying to cool down my hot face. After a while of calming down I texted back, "Thx." I wanted to text her "Are you going to the dance with Josh?" but I chose not to. To be honest, I was a little scared to ask.
