Pain... sharp numbing pain is all I felt as my step mother once again tied me up by my neck, feet, and arms in chains as she slowly drove, cut, and sliced a jagged broken glass bottle into my back. I wept, yelled, and cried until she did it so much in my life I got used to it. I didn't know what kindness was; what love was, maybe I didn't even know how to feel at all. The colors in my eyes were faded just flames about to burn out. School wasn't any better; I got bullied on my very first day of school, the teachers wouldn't help in anyway shape or form. I'm surprised I even went to school.

The combination of physical and mental abuse was beginning to be too much for me. I didn't know what to do anymore. I didn't even think about cutting or anything like that, because my “mother” did that enough to me. It wouldn't have worked, even if I tried it, I'm already numb to it. (3rd person) She's thirteen years old now she's on the verge of insanity, and she even grew out her hair. It's jet black and about sixty inches long. Her eyes a dark purple, she used to have a sparkle in my eyes. It was so beautiful, her birth mother use to say that's why she named her Amaryllis, also a name of a flower; the meaning of the name is to sparkle. Sadly her mother died when she was only five. She was born on August 4th, 2005, her father leaving the spring before. She doesn't even have a stepfather, whether that's a good or bad thing, she doesn't even know or care at this point.

She grabbed a knife from the kitchen, just looked at it spinning it by its handle and her finger at its sharp point. She sliced a little cut on her hand, but there was no pain at all, this frightened her. She tried again and again and again, yet nothing… she stopped blood was slowly flowing down her hands with cut all over them. She started to sob quietly and slowly curled in the corner with her head between her knees. “What are you doing on the floor! Why are you getting my floors dirty! Get up and clean this mess you filthy child!” her stepmother exclaimed. Amaryllis picked up her head quickly shocked by her sudden appearance. She quickly stood up “Y-yes ma'am,” Amaryllis said with fear in her voice. She was about to leave before her mother grabbed her wrist “Wait a minute,” she said with suspicion in her voice.

(1st person) Why would I ever think of hurting myself when I have “her” to give me all the pain I need. Mother turned both my wrists around checking all over them “Where's the blood coming from is it yours? Answer me!,” mother demanded. Dang it I hoped she wouldn't notice. “Well,” she yelled I immediately looked down, slowly opening up my palms and showing her the damage I had done. She let go of my wrists, as I slowly raised my head she slapped me so hard across the cheek I fell to the floor. I looked up to her terrified; surprisingly she didn't do anything else just started talking. “What do you think your doing? Are you that desperate to get punished?” she said with a smug smile on her face. All I did was stand up from the floor after that everything was just a haze like I wasn't controlling myself it was completely black, yet I felt at peace; for once I felt safe like as if someone was cradling me trying to protect me from the world's harsh life, it felt… nice.

(3rd person) “A. A ha. A ha ha ha. A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha,”  she started to laugh like a homicidal maniac which frightened her stepmother. Her mother takes a step back, then two, as Amaryllis follows her steps; she then moved to where the knife she cut her hands with had fallen and picked it up.     Without picking up her head, she approached her mother, her long jet black hair masking the intent in her eyes.

To Amaryllis’s mother it felt as if the whole world just stopped around them, and the only sound to be heard was her heart beating faster and faster each moment that went by. The only thing that she could see was Amaryllis mouth, yet she wasn't making an expression just a blank face. Suddenly Amaryllis made a big ear to ear smile, yet her teeth wasn't her normal human teeth they were big; sharper than a wolf’s teeth. Unexpectedly she turned her whole entire body, her head spinning unnaturally. Her mother was terrified of what she saw. The daughter she had tormented, growing into something that she feared and could not control. Perhaps this is what happens to people that abuse the souls they should love and cherish.
