Hello lovely people!

So a new story inspired by a lot of historical dramas I have seen and mangas.

If some of you are familiar with Fushigi Yugi, I will be using the names of the kingdoms and deities. Magic won't be a thing, only oracles can do it and it is mostly divination.

Also this story is a sequel of another story I am working on The Jade and The Lotus. I will use a lot of elements (plot wise) so it is advised to check this story.

And yes, I am doing some shameless advertising.

This chapter is dedicated to @ZiaJang

Enjoy.

General Pov.

"The Crown Prince is dead. His Majesty has to name a new heir for the Kuto Kingdom."

"...and who should it be? I don't care about this! I want to know who killed Tae and make them pay!"

"Listen to me! Vengeance is not important right now..."

"My brother has been assassinated! He was loved by everyone and I should keep my mouth shut in the name of power? Not a chance mother. I will do everything to bring justice to his murderers."

"Then become the Crown Prince, Forth. If the King decides to name one of your brothers instead of you then you can be sure they wouldn't try to find the culprit. The King is favouring you, take advantage of this."

Forth went silent knowing his mother was right on multiples points, but he never wanted to be the Crown Prince. He was brash, cold some people would even venture to say. He was a soldier, the best general of the Kuto Kingdom. His nickname was the God of War because he was undefeated to this day.

...but he wasn't Tae.

Tae was selfless, he was an idealist who wanted to give all of himself to his people. Tae was close to the humblest of their subjects.

The people loved and cherished Tae.

The people feared and respected Forth.

Sometimes, Forth thought Seiryu gifted his twin brother with kindness while he gave him ruthlessness...like their father and ancestors.

"Are you sure his Majesty will name me?" He asked his mother with uncertainty.

Despite having the same personality as his father, Forth never got along with his sire.

For the answer, his mother trusted into his hands a golden scroll.

Forth opened it, he unrolled it and started reading silently before he glanced at his mother.

"Is he naming you the next Crown Prince?"

"Yes...with the condition that I find the person responsible for Tae's death."

"Then everything is good. I know you will avenge our Tae for us."

"I will start to investigate right away."

"House Vongviphan! You are branded traitors to the Kuto Kingdom for conspiring with our enemies and participating in the assassination of Crown Prince Tae Jarmonhum! The sentence for every member of the household is death!" A soldier shouted to the frightened people who were shivering and whimpering in front of him and his men.

"Wh...wait! We have always been loyal to the Kingdom and the royal family!" A dignified man stated loud enough to be heard over the scared whispers of his people.

"Crown Prince Forth has found clues of you corresponding with enemies of the Empire."

The man looked troubled at the revelation, a quick movement caught his attention, but he decided to concentrate his full attention on the armed soldier in front of him.

'I hope Kit did what I commanded him to do.'

"Enough with the useless chat! Kill everyone, spare no one!" The soldier shouted growing tired of the man's attempt to stall. "Look closely to see if anyone has tried to escape!"

"Wait! We are not..." The man never finished his sentence, his throat was sliced open. He put his hands over his gaping wound to stop the blood loss, even he knows it was a lost cause. Powerlessly he dropped to his knees before he fell on the floor as his body grows colder.

He could hear screams and people pleading for their lives, but he couldn't do anything...he was dying.

'My only hope is Kit did what I told him. Be strong my son and avenge us. Find the real perpetrator.' Was his dying wish.

On a faraway hill, two hooded figures were watching their home going up in flames.

"Beam! We can't stay here! If they find us..."

"I know Kit." ...but he couldn't convince himself to move from the desolation that was unfurling in front of his eyes. His father and his people were slaughtered because they were framed. Feeling that his cousin was growing restless, he took one last mental picture of his former home. "I won't let them get away with it Kit! I will avenge my father, our people, and what they did to my sister."

"...and I will help you, Beam."

Under the starless sky, they faded into the darkness of the night with their only witness...the Moon.

Ta da.

It will be bloody story with a lot of secrets and deaths (a bit like Game of Thrones minus the incest).

I hope you will enjoy it.

See you soon.
