What will my first period be like?

So the day comes when you get your first period. It may be bright red, rusty red, or dark brown.

You would usually find it as a stain in your underwear.

What do I do?!
Don't panic! Wipe yourself as well as you can. If you don't have a pad, tampon, or menstrual cup around, or don't know how to use one, fold up a big wad of toilet paper, tissues, or paper towels to put in your underwear. Then find your mom, older sister, or a person you trust, take a deep breath and say something like, "i think I just started my period, do you have something I can use?"

You may feel like crawling into a hole, but remember, getting your period is normal. There's no reason to be ashamed, or embarrassed. The older person will probably remember how it felt for their first time, and will be glad to help!
