(video above tells exactly how to use one so you really don't need to read this if you watch the video)
❗️ALWAYS ASK YOUR MOM OR A TRUSTED WOMAN BEFORE USING MENSTRUAL CUPS OR TAMPONS! ❗️
Menstrual cups are different than tampons because:
1: You can leave them in for up to 12 hours
2: You reuse them and wash them
3: They are better for the earth
4: They hold 3x-5x the amount of tamponsMenstrual cups are made out of silicone. You put them inside your vagina like tampons, but you fold them to insert them. I have some people in my family who LOVE menstrual cups because they can put one in when they wake up, and then change them at night!
You can swim in them, sleep in them, and wear them all day!
You might still want to wear a panty liner or pad with your menstrual cup just Incase it would leak!
When you first buy a Menstrual cup, sanitize it first by putting it in boiling water deep enough that it won't touch the bottom of the pot, and it will float in the water.
How to insert a menstrual cup:
Step 1: Wash your hands
Step 2: Fold the cup into a kind of C shape, or any other shape reccomended for menstrual cups, (you can find videos of menstrual cup folds on youtube.) (It should show you how to fold it on the box, or ask a family member or friend that uses a menstrual cup to show you how to fold it!)
Step 3: Relax your muscles
Step 4: Use your fingers to insert the folded cup into your vagina. Tilt it towards the base of your spine. Your fingers will need to be in your vagina to push it up far enough!
Step 5:
Let go! You might feel a little pop, that means its in right, and it has a suction so blood can not pass it. (Insert a finger, and feel around the sides, and if there are any indentions, is not sealed right, so you may need to turn it or push it up more, to get it to open.) Menstrual cups don't go as far up as tampons. They go lower down. Now you can leave It in for up to 12 hours! How to take out a menstrual cup:
Wash your hands, then reach into your vagina, and pinch the sides of the cup so it will release the suction. Then pull it out and dump it in the toilet. Do not pull on the stem of the menstrual cup, it will not work because of the suction. This can get messy so make sure you have a sink, or toilet paper around! When you are done, rinse out the menstrual cup with water and mild soap. shake the water off, or dry it with toilet paper or paper towels, then you can put it back in or leave it out and switch to a pad or tampon.Sanitize it after each period ends, in a pot of boiling water, so it will be perfectly clean for your next period!
(FYI I use a menstrual cup now and I LOVE it! It takes some getting used to though. I use the "Dutchess Cup" from amazon.)
Also FYI: (You can pee and poop with a menstrual cup in, as long as you're not super constipated! 😂)
