Soon...One day

Lia had awaken by the sound of her alarm. It was the 24th of January , the first month of a new year.
She had already made plans and goals for her new year resolution, Better grades she said.  "I have to make better grades" .. "I mean new year new me ... right?".
She checked her phone , thirteen new messages and four miss calls . Two miss calls were from her Mom , one was from her sister, and the last one was from her best friend Alex.
The other messages on her phone was all from Alex. 
Alex - Wake uppppp
        - come on ... you can't be sleep
        - LIA!!!
        - Dudee

                     (Lia's POV)
Yes.. I know that was only 4 messages, but do you really want me to read all of the messages he sent me ? No ? Okay you get the jist.
I jumped out of my bed with my phone in my hand, and looked at the time. Woah ....it is 9:32 , I slept two hours late. I rushed to the bathroom with my phone, dailing Alex's number. He answered the phone quickly.
"Hey why aren't you at school?"
His voice was raspy as if he was sick.
"I woke up late alex" I said
"Oh well then you better be here soon, we have our SATs to take you know ..the test that will make or break you, the test that counts just like your ACT for college."
Yea I know.. don't remind me, I said.
Alex sighed, around 15 seconds later he said "we need to talk."
When he said that I knew something was wrong. Alex... being serious...thats a first. He is always goofy and can not take anything serious. And I would know, he has been my Best friend for 2 years.
"Yes sure" I said
Have you talked to Dani ? , He asked
No I haven't why?
"I don't know it's just, we have been texting for over a month now and for the last few days I texted her and she hasn't responded" he said

My mind froze.. DANI ?
DANI ? Dani Smith? What...? Why would he be texting Dani ?
My mind ran a million thoughts, this is bizzare I said . I could tell he was getting irritated, so I did not say what I was thinking. Instead I asked if they dating, which was a more stupid question to ask.
"No" he said. "We are not dating, we were just texting. You know ? Having a conversation" .
I couldn't believe what I heard, of course they are not dating. Alex hasn't dated anyone for years, he isn't the type to fall in love. He is not the type to commit to a relationship. So of course they are not dating, although I was a little shocked to hear he was texting Dani. The "I date every single boy in the school Dani". Yes .. that Dani.  She is the definition of a girl player. I wondered why were they texting in the first place?
After I heard that, I couldn't stay on the phone with him. I would not have known what to say to him, so I told Alex I will see him at school . Which he responded okay.
