Chapter One.

Amy sits at the docks, it's midnight and the lantern she brought is the only light source. She waits, silently. 'For what?' one may ask. Another person walks up slowly behind her. She turns around, smiling, knowing exactly who they were.

"Took you long enough." She said with a laugh.

"Sorry." The Figure says "I didn't want to wake up my family."

"Well, now that you're here, do you want to go for a swim?" She asked.

"Of course!" The figure says, finally stepping into the light. A young man, looking to be about 19 to 20 years old. Amy takes his hand and jumps into the water. They splash and play for almost an hour before they start to swim with ease. Suddenly, something tugs on Amy's leg, almost pulling her beneath the surface of the water. The boy notices and swims to her immediately.

Amy struggles to stay above the surface, even with the boy helping her. She calls out his name before she is finally pulled underwater.

"Emmett!" She cries.

She watches as he desperately tries to save her. But it's too late. She passes out.

Aen muttered a curse in her native language and put a bubble around the girl's head. She dragged the blonde farther into the water. It took her almost an hour to reach the portal. Swearing again as she realized how much time she wasted trying to even catch the human. She swam faster, to try and make it before the time was up. Reith watched her as she swims up to him. Carrying the human. He checked off some things on his stone tablet, looked up, and spoke

"Wh-" he said before he was cut off.

"I'm SO sorry Reith! I really didn't mean to take up so much time" Aen interrupted.

Reith frowned at her and thought for a moment. What he would say could make her burst into tears, like the many other times before that.

"Well, if you would have let me finish, you basically got everything except the time." He said. "Which as you know is-"

"The MOST important I know!"

"The only reason I didn't check it, was that you had 3 minutes left."

"I know! I realized how much time I had taken up my mistake! It was hard to catch-"

"I gave you EXTRA time, E-X-T-R-A." He clarified.

"But I got everything else! She had someone else with her ya' know!"

He paused. His expression changing from calm to angry.

"There was another person?" He asked as calmly as possible.

"Yeah, there was! Some gu-"

"Did he see you?"

"I don't think so."

"Do you know what could have happened, if he did?"

"Uhm, no sir, I didn't think about it."

"Do you even know the correct procedure when there is another person?"

"No, sir. I-I didn't," she said, starting to worry a little bit.

"You swim away and tell me there was two. I would have understood!" He started to show the anger in his voice.

"Sorry, sir."

"You got SO lucky. We'll have to do this again. Tomorrow, or next week. Whenever there is an opening."

"A-again?" She asked timidly.

"Yes AGAIN." He yelled. She started to tear up. Realizing his mistake, he did his best to comfort her.

"Oh- I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that Aen." She started crying.

"Please stop, I didn't mean it, really" He sighed, knowing that she'd only accept a hug as an apology.

"I g-guess this-s is wh-hy I'd be a b-bad guard." She said quietly, still sobbing.

"C'mon, let's go back. You got the human, it's all good." He said warmly. She grabbed the human, waving her face to get the tears away, and swam with Reith through the portal.
