The rain was pouring down hard, creating an energetic symphony accompanied with the violent honking of cars and buses.
Most would say that they found this noise irritating and would rather have the calmness of a peaceful summer's morning.
For Mistuki, however, she quite enjoyed the busy noises of this rainy evening. It reminded her of her son's graduation. It had been raining heavily that day, but that didn't stop the school from holding the graduation for the students of her son's year.
That had been the last time Mitsuki saw her son in person before he'd left to the United States. He hadn't even said goodbye to anyone, he had just left.
Sure, it had hurt for a while, but Mitsuki got over it. She knew her son, and it would be out of character for him to have told her where he was going – he was, and now is, legally an adult after all.
So if you were to ask her how she was feeling at this moment, staring at her own son drenched because of the rain, holding onto a little girl – no more than five – in his arms, after six years, she'd definitely respond with shock.
"Katsuki?" Mitsuki chocked out, holding out a shaky hand to her son's cheek. "What? How?"
"I flew in two hours ago," Katsuki responded, having lost the usual harsh tone he'd regularly use. "Can I come inside? I'll explain everything."
"Of - Of course!" Mitsuki ushered her boy inside, closing the door quickly.
Mitsuki offered Katsuki a towel which he took while muttering a soft thanks. He put the girl in his arms down, letting her gain her balance before placing the towel over her head and rubbing it to dry her hair off.
"Katsuki," Mitsuki spoke slowly, trying to gain her composure. She was now sitting down on the sofa, not far from her son, yet there was still a noticeable distance between them. "Please, explain. What's going on? Why are you here? Who is she?"
Katsuki stopped what he was doing, his gaze still focused on the little girl in front of him. "I'm moving back to Japan."
"What?" Mitsuki asked, her voice laced in confusion and shock. "But your job? Isn't that why you went to the States in the first place?"
"I had to come back," Katsuki said, pulling the towel off the little girl.
It was at this moment did Mitsuki realise how similar the little girl looked compared to her son.
