Jack's POV

I opened my eyes to the sun shining through my window, I sat up and slipped on some sweatpants and a t-shirt. I went down stairs and got a bowl of fruit loops. I had been up all night on the phone with Greg, who had told me everything that had happened with Wendy. I wonder how Tony is taking it, I mean she was his best friend. I went upstairs and took a shower, before getting dressed. I should go see Tony, make sure he's okay, although with what's happened I highly doubt he is. I grabbed my keys and started up my bike.

"Oh hello Jack" "hi Nicole, can I come in?" she nodded and stepped aside. Yes, Tony's parents said I can call them by their first names. "Hey Jack!" "hey Dave, how have you guys been" "alright, alright" he replied as we shook hands. "Tony home?" "no, said he needed to go for a walk" "does he know?" they shook their heads. "We didn't have the heart to tell him this morning" I nodded. "He's gonna take it hard, she was his first friend when we moved here" I sighed "how are we gonna tell him?" "we don't know Jack, we really don't"

Tony's POV

I sat on a swing swinging around. Wendy wasn't returning my calls, wouldn't text back, not even an email. I stood up and began to walk to her house, which wasn't that far from the park. I said hello to some of my old classmates from last year who I passed by. I rang the doorbell, and it was quite a while before someone opened the door. "Oh Tony, please come in" I smiled "hi Mrs.Hatch, is Wendy home?" her eyes instantly teared up as I said her name. "Tony, you should sit down" Mr.Hatch stated. We all took a seat in the living room. "So what's up? is Wendy in the hospital or something?" they shook their heads "Tony, yesterday morning I went up to wake her, and she, she" Mrs. Hatch began to cry so hard, she wasn't able to finish what she was saying. Mr.hatch put his arm around her, saying it was gonna be okay, before turning to me. "Tony, Wendy is dead" I just starred at them, not being able to speak, "she hung her herself" he continued. "She left this for you" he handed me a white envelope, my name written in black ink, in her perfect cursive writing. "Can I go up to her room?" they nodded and I headed up the stairs. I starred at her door, it was paint black, with a big 'Do Not Enter' sign on it. I turned the non and walked in, her bed was a mess, dirty cloths piled in the corner, her desk covered in papers where a laptop would lay beneath them. I went over and sat on the bed, a picture frame sat on her nightstand. It contained a picture of the two of us from last summer, we were sitting on the swings at the park. She had a nevershoutnever poster above her bed, a hunger games one by her desk, and a twilight one hidden in the back of her closet. She would never admit to her love for twilight, said she'd get made fun of. Then again, I made fun of her for it. I opened the envelope, taking out the folded piece of paper. The letters were also written in black ink and her perfect cursive. She would always brag that she had better penmanship than me, and it was true. All it said was:

See you in another life

And that was it took, all it took to make me break down crying, there on her bed. I cried and cried until I couldn't any more and I was just screaming into her pillow. It still smelled like her, she always smelt like Vanilla and Cinnamon.

We used to say that to each other every time we had to say goodbye, See you in another life. Cause we never knew what day would be our last together, we didn't know if one of us was about get hit by a bus or if the world was gonna explore. After a while we stopped saying it, I guess we stopped cause we needed the hope that we were gonna see each other the next day. To keep us going. Although, I guess this was her last goodbye, that maybe she hoped she would see me in another life.

I got up and walked down stairs, past the crying couple who had lost their daughter, and out onto the streets. I just kept walking, not having any destination in mind, just walking. I walked past the ice cream parlor where she threw me a surprise birthday party, I walked past the party store that we got kicked out of for having a streamer fight, and I walked past the coffee shop where we once sat drinking hot chocolate as she cried because her old boyfriend John cheated on her. All the while here I was, on these streets, just walking.

The sun was setting and it was getting dark, I turned my phone off a long time ago, so I wouldn't have to hear it ring or beep. I didn't want to read another insult from Nick, is don't want to hear mom or dad asking where I was and if I'm okay, I didn't want Jack asking me to come over so we could talk. I didn't want to talk to anyone. cause the only person on this entire planet that I wanted to talk to, was now gone. I had my headphones in playing her favorite song, Big City Dreams by nevershoutnever. I began to cross the street, ignoring the world. When I my eyes were blinded by a bright light. I felt something hard hit my body, I flew three the air before falling to the ground. My boy ached, I reached up touching the back of my head, it felt wet. My eyes began to cloud, I couldn't see, and I couldn't hear what was going on around me. Due to the fact that some how my headphones managed to stay in my ears. So I fell into darkness, listening to the song that once brought me happy memories.
