MEEP! MEEP! MEEP!

Evelyn Grace Weber was awoken from her deep slumber. She groaned and, quite literally, hit the snooze button. She pushed her hair out of her face and lazily threw her duvet aside, struggling to sit up and throw her legs over the edge of her bed.  When her eyes finally adjusted to the sunlight, she stood up and walked over to her closet to pick out an outfit for the day.

She sighed and scanned her wardrobe, deciding she should probably get rid of some of the clothes that she doesn't wear anymore. After a few minutes, she pulled out a pair of light-colored skinny jeans and a cute, floral tank top.

She draped the outfit over her arm and picked up a pair of her converse sneakers. She bumped the closet door with her hip to close it and walked into her bathroom to get ready for her first day of college.

Evelyn flipped on the lights and gazed at her reflection in the mirror. She was undoubtedly an attractive girl. Her thick, sable hair contrasted beautifully against her alabaster skin and sea-green eyes.

She changed into her outfit and began brushing her teeth. She hated her teeth. She absolutely loathed the small gap between her middle incisors. If she had the money, she would have it fixed. Unfortunately, her family had gone bankrupt years ago.

She was grateful that she had earned a scholarship for Tollhouse University. Who would've thought that her last minute paper on How Violence in Television Affects Children would bring her to one of the biggest colleges in the state? The whole ordeal left her feeling somewhat flabbergasted but also thrilled.

She felt butterflies begin to erupt in her stomach, causing goosebumps to rise on her arms. She rubbed them down. She was also grateful that she had saved enough money in tips from her job at the local gas station to be able to rent herself a small apartment in town.

She remembered her old home back in the rural areas of the county. She adored living in "the sticks", as most city folk called it. As a child, she would run around the yard barefoot while trying to catch any small insect that caught her eye.  She smiled to herself, remembering the feel of the cool grass between her toes and the sweet smell of the earth after it rained.

The memories left her with a bittersweet feeling. She missed the country but she felt more mature and independent being on her own.

She was ecstatic when she found an apartment that was both cheap and livable. When she first moved in, the apartment was somewhat dusty, the furniture was a bit old (although the landlord insisted that they were antiques), and the walls were a little dingy. Luckily, Mr. and Mrs. Webster, the landlords, allowed her to add some flair to it.

After dusting and vacuuming, she painted the walls, choosing powder blue for the kitchen and living room then a charcoal grey for her bedroom and bathroom. She bought some new coverings for the couch recliners that made them look almost new. She polished the wooden dining table and chair until she could practically she her own reflection in them.

After that, she hadn't enough money to add more pizzazz to the place. Once she saved up enough tips again, she would buy some curtains and maybe some tapestries.

After finishing her morning routine, Evelyn gathered her things and made her way out the front door, making sure she had her keys before locking and closing the door behind her. She took a deep breath and made her way to the nearest bus stop.

Hey, y'all! So, I've been working on this story for a little while and decided I would post it on here!

I know this chapter is a little short but I mostly wanted to introduce the main character to you so the chapters will get longer as the story progresses.

If you like it so far, hit the little star!

That rhymed dude.
