All boys are different so here are some tip and tricks for different scenarios.
1. He already knows you like him.
What you should do is just wait for him to come around. When somebody knows that someone likes them they will be flattered and probably develop some feelings for the person.
If nothing happens after this, for instance he isn't staring at you whenever you walk past or just doesn't care about you then "like" someone else or pay attention to someone else. Even if the guys doesn't like you he will want attention back from you and things may escalate from there.
2. He doesn't know you like him and you don't want to tell him.
Some boys they don't like girls that come to them. When I was 13 my crush didn't like me because I told him I liked him and he panicked. This is not the case with all guys but like I said some guys like to do the approaching. You can read one on my later chapters on how to be attractive to guys to get them to come to you. Also be like one of his friends so then you can slowly get close to your crush then he gradually fall for you.
3. You are planning to tell your crush you like him.
To avoid bad rejection try teasing and flirting with your crush to see if he likes you occasionally say he is cute or something and see his reaction. If he doesn't blush or is very stiff and bored I don't recommend confessing.
