Night's Shadow || Dick Grayson x Ariana Wayne

Chapter 1

A/n: This was originally posted as a one shot in my one shots book but since then it's grown into a massive story and so I've decided to include certain OCs of others into the book. With permission of course. So a HUGE thanks to Annabeth_Wayne and I-am-Red-Widow for allowing me to use their characters. I hope I've done them justice. Also I want to thank That_One_Lunatic for inspiration regarding my Grigori characters. They are influenced by her y/n character in her book, which you should definitely go read.

The sound of crying caught the attention of Ariana who was quite literally flying around the house. She was exploring and practicing her flight as she'd only been home for a few months after her training. Flight was natural for her however the emulation of emotions. She flew to the living room and saw her mother, Sayeh, with a baby in her arms. Ari knew her mother hadn't been pregnant so it prompted some curiosity on the girl's part. She landed on the floor and walked over to the couch and sat next to her mother and the baby. "Do I have a sibling now?"

"This little sweetheart was left on the doorstep today." There was a very slight twinge of jealousy in her voice but it was mostly a loving tone. "She has a different mother but shares your father." Sayeh was calm and collected and her gaze was soft and motherly. She may not have given birth to the baby girl in her arms, but she was going to love her as if she was her own.

Ariana leaned over and kissed the baby's forehead. "You are going to be well loved and protected. Welcome to the family." Ari looked up at her mother. "What is her name? Or does she not have one yet?"

Sayeh laughed softly, "of course she does. This is Annabeth and once she's old enough she'll be given the room next to yours."

"And that's how you came to be my baby sister, Beth. I never did and never will care about blood relations. That isn't what makes a family" Ariana told the little four year old in her lap. "Mother and Father love you unconditionally and I believe I do as well."

Beth looked up at her sister with bright, wide hazel eyes. "You don't know if you love me Ari?" The younger girl looked like she was about to cry.

"Shh, calm down Beth. I don't feel emotions and won't until I meet my soulmate. I've been trained to emulate emotions almost perfectly but don't truly feel them." Ari sighed and gave her baby sister a hug. "No one can ever replace you and if anyone hurts you, I will make them hurt in return."

"Oh," said Beth and hugged her big sister back. "That's okays Ari. I loves you and have lots of loves. More than enough for both of us!"

Sayeh was watching the two of them from the doorway of Beth's room. "Girls, you're supposed to be getting ready. Your father and I are taking you to the circus remember?" Both girls looked at each other and let out high pitched squeals of excitement before hurrying to get ready.
