Ally's POV:
"Good morning, love." I greet Dinah with a kiss as I start to stumble out of the bed.
"Come back." She groans with her eyes still closed. I smile at her cuteness and lean over to kiss her forehead. She feels like she's burning up.
"Babe, are you feeling okay?" She shakes her head and I run over to the bathroom. I noticed that there was a thermometer there the other day when I went looking for the Advil. I grab the thermometer and rush back over to Dinah.
"Open your mouth babe." She complies and winces when I place the thermometer in her mouth. The thermometer beeps and I take it out of her mouth.
"Holy shit, Dinah. You have a fever of 102.4." She groans and rolls over, sticking her butt up in the air. I go back to the bathroom and wash the thermometer, but as I'm in there, I hear Dinah running over here and she heads straight for the toilet, emptying out the contents of her stomach. I walk over to her and hold her hair back as I sigh. I was planning on taking her out on a date tonight, but I guess there's a change of plans. She finishes up a few minutes later and wipes her mouth with the sleeve of her shirt.
"Babe, I think I have the flu." She whines.
"I know you have the flu." I say, laughing lightly.
"Come on, honey, let's get you washed up." I help her stand up before drawing a bath. The water starts to steam and I add in relaxing bath bubbles. I start to undress her as she stands there weakly. She walks over to the tub, using me for support. She climbs in slowly and carefully before closing her eyes and just relaxing. I grab the shower head and start rinsing her hair. Once it's wet enough, I take out her rose scented shampoo, rubbing it into her hair and scrubbing her scalp as I go. I continue to wash her up for another fifteen minutes and when I finish I realize that she's fallen asleep.
"Okay, babe. You gotta wake up, honey, I can't really carry you. I'm too tiny." She groans before complying and getting out of the tub. We walk over to the bedroom with her body unclothed and dripping wet. I grab two towels and wrap her hair in the towel before drying the rest of her body. I take the now soaked towels, place them into the hamper, and grab a fresh pair of sweatpants, boxers, socks, and a black hoodie. I dress Dinah and tell her to go lie down on the bed.
"Thank you." She murmurs before going to sleep again. Ugh, this girl. I head down the stairs and go to the kitchen. I look around the empty house and sigh. It must suck to live in a big house like this all alone. I shrug and walk over to the fridge. I open it carefully and look at its contents. When I look inside, I frown. There's nothing in this fridge other than a few bottles of water and a gallon of orange juice. I guess I'm going shopping. I head upstairs and get dressed quickly. Thank God that Dinah told me to leave a few outfits here yesterday. I look through my shirts and realize that I don't have a sweater or jacket. I sigh and look around. I guess I forgot one. I head over to Dinah's closet and take out a hoodie that seems to be too large for my body, but I don't mind. It smells like Dinah. I smile to myself as I walk over to Dinah, placing a goodbye kiss on her forehead and then heading down the stairs. I grab my car keys off of the kitchen table and head out. Here we go.
I arrive at the grocery store and park my car. I grab my wallet from the passenger seat and my phone. I open the door and exit the car, making sure that I have everything I need before locking it. I walk inside the store and grab a light blue shopping cart. As I'm walking in, I notice someone familiar, but I can't remember who they are. I just smile when they look at me suspiciously.
"Hey, Ally. How are you?" They speak up after a moment of pure awkwardness. Oh gosh, I don't remember their name.
"Hey...You. I'm doing great, how are you?" I mentally face palm as I forget how to be subtle in a situation like this.
"I'm good. Nice hoodie by the way. The color makes your eyes pop." I stare at the girl, confused. The hoodie is just white. I don't know how that can compliment my eyes, but okay.
"Thank you. It's my girlfriend's." Oh God, why did I say that?
"Oh, glad to see you've finally moved on." Did I date this girl or something? I feel like if I did, I would remember.
"I'm sorry, but I'm drawing a blank here. Where do I know you from?" My curiosity got the best of me and I had to ask the question.
"I'm Lexa, you know, your ex-girlfriend's mistress?" Oh, right. Her.
"Thanks for reminding me. I hope you have a great time living with a cheater." I bluntly reply, remembering the troubles that she caused.
"Oh, we're married now. I guess everything happens for a reason, huh." I send her a fake smile.
"I guess so. I have to go shopping now. Goodbye." I rush away before she can say another word. Dear God I hate her. Okay, now, back to business. What should I buy? I look around and see that blueberries are on sale. Dinah loves blueberries in whipped cream. I think I'll make her some if she's feeling better later. I get two large containers of blueberries and place them in the cart. I walk around the store and pick up a few other things: bread, fruits, vegetables, ground beef, steak, dressing, whipped cream, and yogurt. I think that should do it. I walk over to an empty register and place everything on the conveyor belt.
"Hello, how are you doing today?" The cashier greets me with a smile and I smile back.
"I'm doing fine, how are you?"
"Just as well, thank you." He continues to ring me up and then speaks.
"$67.50 is your total, would you like paper or plastic?"
"Paper please." He nods and starts bagging all of the groceries. I swipe my card and the receipt prints out.
"Here you go, have a good day."
"You too." I place the card and receipt in my wallet and walk out of the store. I unlock my car and empty the shopping cart, placing the groceries in the trunk. Time to go home.
I walk into the house and I'm surprised to see Dinah sitting on the couch, laughing quietly as she watches Sex Education on Netflix.
"Hey, baby." I greet her. I put all of the bags on the floor and walk over to her. I check her forehead and she's cooled down a bit.
"Hi, I missed you." I smile at her and kiss her gently. I don't really care if she's sick. She's worth it. Plus, I have a pretty strong immune system.
"How are you feeling?" I ask her, seeing if I should make her the blueberries with whipped cream.
"I'm doing better, I took some flu medication that I stole from the hospital just in case I needed it." She smiles smugly as I chuckle. She really would steal the medicine from a hospital.
"That's good that you're feeling better. Want me to make you your favorite dessert?" She looks at me with excitement, her eyes widen at the word "dessert".
"Blueberries and whipped cream?"
"That's the one!" I smile.
"Oh my gosh, yes!"
"I love you." I confess, my heart starts to race as I wait for a response.
"I love you too."
