ever since you were 10 you have always loved the idea of running away. now that you're 18 and graduated school, it's all you ever think about. you have an amazing friend group, everyone is unique in their own way and everyone in the group is close, except you feel like you distance yourself away from them too often it almost feels like you don't know anything about them, except of course your best friend, ivy. you and ivy have been best friends for what feels like forever. you know every single thing about her and she thinks she knows everything about you. it's been a month since you and your friends have graduated, they have their future planned out and you feel like you're the only one who doesn't even know if you will make it to tomorrow.

it's a sunday afternoon, a cold one in fact. you hear a knock at your door and to your surprise it's all your mates.

"hey y/n, i hope you don't mind, we have nothing else to do so we thought we might crash here, we brought the shining and star wars and what not"

"oh uh, hi, i wasn't expecting anyone. the house is a mess, mum and dad are out of town again, i'm here alone and wouldn't mind the company, got any food?"

"to tell you the truth, we were relying on you"

there was a moment of laughter.

"oh by the way, this is one of my mates from band, brian, you've met him before"

"hi brian, call me y/n"

brian simply smiles and shakes your hand. you don't recognize him although he is quite charming and you would think you would remember such a pretty guy.

it's around quarter to eight, most of your friends are asleep and the other half are either making out or not even watching the movie. you feel out of it and uncomfortable, you decide to get up and pour yourself a drink, you take a sip as you slowly stare out the window, unbothered, not knowing how you're feeling. it feels like you have been out of it for hours as if it were a dream when you hear someone walk in the kitchen. you jumped and gave a little gasp.

"sorry, i didn't know anyone was in here, i was just finding my way out"

it's brian. he's tall with the most gorgeous, brown, curly hair, and not to mention his oddly divine hands.

"leaving already? it's still early don't you think?"

you say with a half smile, not looking at him but next to him, avoiding eye contact.

"uh well i think i might head out"

"i was just on my way out to get some more food...if you would like to join?"

you ask, regretting it almost instantly.

"it's getting pretty late, i should go"

your heart kind of sinks.

"god i am so stupid!" you mumble under your breath.

"but i uh, i'm free tomorrow if you're up for anything?"

you blush on the spot, before you could answer he interrupts,

"you don't have to, it was just a silly ide-"

"no!" you almost shout.

"i mean i would love to"

he looks you in the eye almost smiling from ear to ear.

"well, i shall give you a call?"

"yeah of course, sure"

"i kind of need your number for that" he laughs.

"oh! right, of course"

you're bright as a tomato as you grab a piece of paper and write down your number, you hand it to him.

"right, well i suppose i'll see you tomorrow then, y/n"

you lead him out the door, as he is about to walk out, hes goes in for a hug. you don't know what to do so you freeze for a minute or two and you eventually hug him back. you watch him walk down the street until he disappears, you then continue to shut the door, you lean back and let out a big sigh. you feel like that was all a dream. there is no way a charming guy like him asked you out.

"it's just as friends, not a date, just as friends" you repeat over over. you eventually sleep it off.
