16 year old Karmani.
Karmani busted through the door. Her brown toned face was redder than roses, chest burned more than the sun, as she tried to keep the news she found out all together. She couldn't take it anymore; the tears spilled from her eyes and her sobbing was all that could be heard. The pictures of them were all in her head. The first thing to mind is he's gone. She couldn't believe that this would happen to him. Her only father, the only man she had in her life, gone. Her mother sobbed and yelled, as she screamed; "Bring my husband back lord please!" Karmani held her mother which was the hardest thing for her to do because she was so hurt. She stared at his body and broke down along with her mom but still held her tightly. The bullets through his head and chest and bullets through Karmani and her mother's hearts. The glass windows were shattered. For others it was another day in Detroit but for them it was the event that would now change it all.
The funeral day came and it was hard day for all of the family. Karmani was so hurt by it she didn't even listen to the pastor's
eulogy. It was as if he didn't say a thing. The thought that her daddy couldn't see her graduate was hard, and even just her doing simple things, he wasn't there anymore. People gave her 'encouraging words' but none of it helped honestly. Her father passing away made everything harder. What was even harder is the fact that she knew she had school. Very few friends she had but that made her more distant than she already is, that until she met her destiny, but at that time may have been her distraction. The day they met was a few weeks after her Fathers death. Karmani got into her blue 2002 Honda, ready to just lay in the bed and finish all the homework she had. Her figure at that time was skinny and she had long model legs. She had a true baby face and her skin had this glow to it. She was a beautiful girl. She moved her box braids from out of her face and opened the door to her house. "Hey mama-" She froze when she saw a boy sitting there with his parents. Lorraine: Karmani's mother was a school principal but at not at the school Karmani attended, she wanted her to have better opportunities than what her school could offer. Lorraine smiled and continued to discuss with his parents; while she made her way to her room "This meeting had to take place, he practically is going to fail the 11th grade."
Karmani listened and throughout the conversation and the perspective she had of this boy is that he's dumb. "What can we do Ms. Jekkings, it's something you can do!" His mother, Mrs. Edwards said. "I gotta use the bathroom, can I?" Latrell nonchalantly asked. "Upstairs to the right, hurry please." I dont even wanna be in this stupid ass house right now. As he walked upstairs her room door was open, she assumed she was doing her homework. He just couldn't take his eyes off her. "Whatchu' doin in here." He bravely asked. Latrell was smooth, he sure knew how to talk. Karmani looked at him and continued to do her work. "So you deaf ma?" He chuckled. Latrell was about 5'6 , had braces, and a low cut. His chocolate skin had most of the girls going wild. "No I am not deaf, I find it disrespectful that you came into my personal room without my consent."
Latrell laughed, her proper words was just new to him. Her voice was raspy but she knew how to speak, it wasn't all ghetto like the other girls. "What's funny?" She furrowed her eyebrows. "You girl." He smirked. Karmani grew annoyed she has no time for boys, "Why you here anyways. Shouldn't you be busy failing the eleventh grade." She bitterly said. He was taken back but ain't show it. Her sat on her bed and sighed, as if he was about to vent or like he was stressed. "Listen, I just don't be in fucking class aight? It ain't like I'm dumb I just don't be in there as much as I should cause I hate school. People like you always make it hard for niggas like me, tryna throw what's going on in my face but shit, I don't care." Karmani sighed, her perspective didn't change but her feelings toward him being in the room did. He almost walked out until she put her pride away and grabbed unto his hand making him facing his direction on her. "Look," she sighed "I don't know you or anything like that, so me judging was totally out of my character and was wrong and openly apologize for that. I'm just going through a lot.."He smiled, "Its coo, I like yo vibe.. but I understand that.. Whatever you going through I hope it work out fa you, you deserve what you need."
I hope it works out for me too.
