Eliza's POV

I heard the doorbell and called for Angie.

"Angie! Go get the door it's Theo and her family!"

"I'm coming!"

She talked to them and heard Theodosia coming towards the kitchen.

"Hello Theodosia!"

"Hi Eliza!"

"How's Theo is she okay?"

"She's alright do you know why Philip was playing with Mary?"

"Oh Philip said he was protecting her from Mary."

"Aw that's so sweet! I hope they fix everything between themselves."

"Me too."

I started to continue making lasagna and Theodosia started helping me. We soon finished and started baking brownies.

Philip's POV

We were standing for a little while and everything was awkward. I don't know how to say this. What if she hates me forever... I soon had the guts to say something.

"Theo I'm so sorry for hanging out with Mary."

She looked at me and said, "I know you are but why did you do it?"

"I- I had to protect you!"

"Protect me? From what?"

"From Mary, she threatened to hurt you."

"Aw Philip you didn't have to..."

"But I did." It felt good to let it out but I was still embarrassed so I looked down to my feet. Next thing I know Theo's hugging me and I hugged her back.

"Thank you for doing that Philly."

"Anytime Theo." We separated and we heard a knock at the door.

"Come in!" Angie opened the door.

"Dinner's ready! Let's go!" She started heading towards the stairs.

"Come on Theo let's go." She followed behind me and while I was going downstairs I had a big smile on my face. I was so happy Theo forgave me.

Theo's POV

As we were going down the stairs I was thinking, I could've protected myself. But at least Philly protected me. He's so sweet. We reached the bottom of the stairs and approached the dining table. Mr. Hamilton was at the head of the table and my dad was sitting next to him while Mrs. Hamilton was across from Mr. Hamilton. My mom and dad are sitting next to each other with Mr. Hamilton on my dad's right side and Mrs. Hamilton on my mom's left side. I sat across from my mom and Philip sat next to me with Angie next to him.

My sad seating chart just so you know where they're sitting. I put so much "effort" in it.

We started eating and dad was talking with Mr. Hamilton about their work. They are lawyers and they work together we actually first met when we both tagged along with our fathers at work and been friends ever since. Our mothers were talking about mom's illness. She recently got diagnosed with stomach cancer. Dad has been really stressed recently because of it too. I haven't even told Philip yet or Angie either. Mom has been on medication to help her pain.

I probably should tell Philip and Angie about it. Well now is the time to do it.

"Hey Pip and Angie?" They both looked to me.

"Yeah?" Pip said stuffing his mouth with more lasagna.

"Uhm so... My mom has stomach cancer. She got diagnosed a few weeks ago." Pip completely froze and Angie was shocked. There was silence for a while until Pip said something.

"Oh no is she alright?" He looked concerned.

"Yeah but she's been in a lot of pain lately and my dad gets more stressed everyday..."

"Well we'll be here to support you right Angie?" Angie nodded.

Philip's POV

Her mom has stomach cancer! I probably made her day worse. I shouldn't have hung out with Mary today. I feel so bad...

I soon dazed into my thoughts. I was sitting still while thinking about what I've done. I heard someone calling my name.

"Pip! Earth to Pip, Pip to Earth!" She waved her hand in front of my face.

"Huh?" I said looking at Theo who was calling my name.

"Are you ok?"

"Oh yeah I just got lost in my thoughts..."

"Oh ok want some brownies?" She was smiling at me. Her smile is always so bright and I love it.

"Sure!" I smiled back.

We finished up dinner and Theo, Angie, and I went to the living room which wasn't too far from the dining room. We all sat down on the couch and watched TV. Soon enough Theo's mom called for her.

"Theo come on we're going home!"

"I'm coming hold on!"

"Bye Theo." I was kinda sad she had to leave already.

"Bye Pip! Bye Angie!"

"Bye!" Angie said waving.

I watched her leave and went back to watching TV with Angie.

"Sad your girlfriend left Pip?"

"SHUT UP ANGIE!" I screamed, luckily mom and dad didn't hear it.
