When I woke up, the first thing I saw was an array of hickeys all over Shiro's body, that I know I didn't do. It's been six months, I shouldn't have assumed he would still feel the same way for me. He'll probably want kids once he settles down, and I can't give him that. Not after what Zarkon did to me. He wouldn't mind if I stayed on Berk forever, would he? Maybe I should do that. Hiccup could use the help, I'm sure, but I don't belong. I don't belong there, I don't belong here. Maybe I would've, before I was captured, but after what the Galra did to me, I don't truly belong anywhere, I suppose. Keith might miss me, but I doubt anyone else would. What if the Berserkers attack Berk again, and I'm not there to help? But, then again, what if Zarkon attacks the Paladins and I'm not here?
I get up to leave, making sure not to wake Shiro up. The work days on Berk begin earlier than on Earth, before their sun even rises, so it's no wonder I'm the first one awake. I returned to my old room, only to find that it had been completely cleaned out. The bed was still there, but had no pillow or blanket, and my toothbrush and such were gone from the bathroom.
"Keith put them in his room, for safe keeping." I jump, pulling out my dagger and pinning down the unknown person, holding the blade to their throat. Astrid taught me well, but pinning a person down and threatening them with a knife isn't the best instinct to have for when someone startles you. "Woah! Hey, Y/N it's just me, Shiro." I get up off of him, remembering the promise I made to myself.
"You don't have to follow me around. I'm not going to stand in your way or force this relationship to continue if you don't want it to. I'll be fine on my own."
Shiro cocked his head to the side a bit, confused, "What do you mean? Of course I want to stay with you, you're my one and only." I motioned to the red and purple splotches all over his torso, neck, and chin, and his stony eyes widened. He let out a nervous laugh, before continuing, "Oh, these. Um... These are from a giant squid-like creature on a planet we recently visited." I had my doubts, but the Shiro I know would never lie without a good reason. I need to trust him. "Why are you up so early?"
"People on Berk get up about two hours before the Sun rises, and go to sleep about an hour after it sets. After living there for five months, I adapted to the lack of sleep and can no longer stay asleep any longer than that. You should get another hour or two of shut eye, I'll be getting ready for the day, you'll most likely find me on the training deck." Shiro looked like he was going to protest, but I pushed past him and snuck into Keith's room, retrieving my stuff and refilling my room. After doing that, I took a shower and put back on my Berkian outfit, putting my extremely long hair into a large braid, tying it off with a leather strip.
My next stop was the kitchen. If there's one thing Astrid taught me, it's to stay hydrated when training. Filling a bottle up with ice cold water, just one degree above freezing, I notice a shadow out of the corner of my E/C eyes. Shiro needs to work on his stealth. I guess I'll let him tag along for the ride. I smirk as my bottle fills to the brim, causing me to fill another.
Once I have sixteen cylindrical containers of water filled, I sprint to the training deck, "Activate training; level twenty two." I pulled out my dagger, smirking at the obvious shock on Shiro's face as he hid in the observation deck. Once the gladiators began charging at me, I went into battle mode. Swinging, jabbing, and blocking, I attacked one after another. In a span of five minutes, I had taken down seven of the twenty foot soldiers and one of the gunmen. I continued, getting slashed several times, once on the shoulder, once on the waist, and once on the chest, but none of them were deep, and the adrenalin kept me from feeling the pain. I saw Shiro go to end the sim, and I screamed on instinct.
"No, Shiro! Don't! If I don't test myself, I'm never going to get better!" He seemed startled that I knew he was there, but complied with my request. Taking advantage of my being momentarily distracted by the raven-haired man in the booth, the last droid slammed me in the stomach with the butt of it's spear, pushing me back a good ten meters. I looked up at the approaching figure, tears filling my eyes and the taste of blood in my mouth as I spat out a mouthful of copper. It continued to move closer, falling right into my trap.
As it went in for the final blow, I double-backflipped over it, slamming my dagger into the nape of it's neck, "Kya!" I pulled my blade out, instinctively wiping it down with the cloth wrapped around the handle to clean off any blood, and slammed onto the ground, one knee on the floor. I sheathed my blade, standing and walking to Shiro, who now stood in the doorway, waiting to intervene if need be, his Galra arm glowing a bright purple.
"When did you lear to do... That?" he finally asked, breaking the awkward silence between us. I tossed him a water bottle, opening one of my own as well.
"During my months on Eden, Astrid, Hiccup, and the others, mostly Astrid, taught me to fight with various weapons, but my favorite is this," I showed him my blade, the name
Y/N engraved on it in Berkian transcript, "a blade made of steel, toughened by Meatlugg, and hardened by Toothless' nightfury burst. It is sacred to me, and a present from the village of Berk." He seemed awestruck, until something snapped him out of it and he frowned.
"You wouldn't... Leave us, to stay on Eden, would you?" I was shocked, to say the least.
"Of course not! Not unless they needed my help with the Berserkers, or you all didn't want me here." He smiled, pulling me into a hug.
"You will always be wanted here," Shiro whispered, gently grabbing my chin and kissing me slowly and deeply. When we broke the kiss for air, Keith walked into the room.
"You guys are up early..." he said, making the situation slightly more awkward. "Um...
Y/N, I have a few questions about this Hiccup guy." I waved my hand, gesturing for him to continue. "How is he your half-brother if they don't have technology advanced enough to go into outer space?"
I frowned, "The Galra took Valka from the sanctuary of dragons before being driven off by the Alpha from the time. They used her to try and learn more about plants and animals, sending her to Earth for a time. There, she met Dad, and he reminded her of my step-father, Stoik the Vast, with his burly attitude and his protective nature. You, Keith, though you were too young to remember her, reminded my mother of Hiccup, and she fell in love all over again. Fast forward about a year, and I was born. About a month later, the Galra came to take her away, and she fought them, trying to remain with the new family she had built, but it was futile. They were too much, and she was captured again.
"After another ten years or so in space, she managed to steal a pod and escape to the Olkari, who sent her back to Eden. Another few years of living among the dragons, and she found Hiccup, was reunited with Stoik, and helped defeat Drago Bludvist. Not without great loss, though. Drago's new Alpha took control of Hiccup's nightfury, Toothless, and made him fire a plasma ball at him. Stoik took the shot for his son, and died in battle. They sent him off to Valhalla that evening, and I wish I could've been there to help him through the loss of his father." Keith and Shiro both stood there in awe and shock at my tale.
"What's going on in here, guys?" Lance McClain himself walked through the door, his hair slightly wet, most likely from a shower.
I shook my head at the Cuban boy's timing, "Nothing. Are the others awake? Are you all packed?"
"Wait, if we can't bring technology there, who's going to watch over the castle?" I smiled at him.
"I've already discussed it with Allura and Coran, and Coran volunteered, so long as he is allowed to come down the next time we visit."
"Something else, how did you get off of Eden? You say you were there for five months, but you were gone for six."
I sighed. This is going to be a long trip.
