"All that glitters is not gold."

**

Rachel looked at Mikey as he stood before her, his hands placed on her hips.
"Breathe," he whispered, watching as Rachel's breathing quickened. Rachel closed her eyes, trying to block out the memories that were rushing into her mind faster than lighting, "No one's going to hurt you," his words echoed through her mind, but she refused to believe them. She took a quick step back from him, his hands falling from her hips and she took a seat on her bed.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, her eyes glued to the floor. Mikey shook his head and kneeled down in front of her so he could see her face better. He moved her hair behind her ear quickly and tapped her knee slightly with his finger.
"Don't be sorry, Rachel. I'm trying to help you, and you're trying as well. I know it's gonna take some time before you can fully trust me, and you don't need to be sorry for that," Rachel looked up, her eyes meeting his and she nodded softly.
"Thank you," she mumbled, and Mikey smiled softly.
"You don't need to thank me," he smiled a bit wider and stood up straight, "I'll see you tomorrow Ray," he leaned over and kissed her forehead softly before walking out of the room and back to his own house.
-
The next day Rachel tapped her pencil on the desk she was currently sitting in and Chase turned around to look at her as she bit her lip, paying attention to the board.
"So," Chase whispered, putting on his signature smile, "There's a party this Friday at my house, you should come."
Rachel looked up at him and made a face as she shook her head.
"I'd rather not," She sighed, rolling her eyes and looking down at her paper.
"Well, in case you change your mind," Chase slid her a piece of paper with his address and number written on it and as soon as the bell rang Rachel sprinted out of the classroom, dropping the paper into the trashcan.
"That bitch," Chase muttered to himself, watching the paper float into the small gray bin.
"I don't think you'll be getting that in your bed, ever," his friend Madison laughed, patting Chase's back as they walked out.
"Oh, I will," he said to Madison, glaring at her back, "Whether she likes it or not," he muttered to himself as she turned the corner.
-
Rachel took a seat in the corner of the huge glass cafeteria and pulled out her phone and shoved her earbuds in, blocking out the noises around her as she watched the teenagers she knew nothing about walking around. It was a new week, and people were still staring at her. She rolled her eyes as a group of girls stared her down as they walked by and she messed with her phone, a text message from Mikey popping up.

Mikey: You alive?

Rachel laughed silently to herself and quickly replied.

Rachel: Lol, Somewhat. Save me?
Mikey: Way ahead of you. ;)
Rachel: What do you mean?

Rachel raised an eyebrow and stared down at her phone, waiting for him to reply, but he never did. A few minutes later the cafeteria got silent, and she could hear whispers from all around her.
"Is that ICONic Boy Mikey Fusco?"  "Ohmygod, that's Spikey Mikey."  "Why is Mikey Fusco here?" "Is he walking towards the new girl?"
Rachel's eyes widened as she heard what people were saying and she continued to stare down at her phone, hoping this wasn't really happening.
"Excuse me, miss?" Came a familiar voice and she closed her eyes tightly, cussing in her head.
"What are you doing here, Mikey?" She whispered, looking up into his orbs as he stood over her, a smile plastered on his face.
"Saving you," he laughed, and Rachel glared. Everyone was staring at them, at her.
"And you had to do it in such a public part of the school?" She sighed, grabbing her bag as she stood up. Mikey put his arm around her shoulder without thinking, but Rachel took a deep breath and ignored it as they slowly walked out of the cafeteria, the kids in the room staring at them in awe. Chase glared at them from across the room, and he chucked a tater tot at Mikey's head but it missed and landed in the trash can.
"Looks like you've got some competition," laughed Madison, which caused Chase to chuck milk at his face, "HEY!" He screamed, but Chase just shook his head.
