~The Next Day~

*Sutton's POV*

Her soft pale lips pressed against mine as I pulled her into a tight embrace.

I pulled away and lightly grazed my hand across the large bruise on the left side of her forehead. "I know that bruise isn't from a fall Dakota..." I said and walked away.

I got about halfway down the hallway and then I turned around to see tears rolling down her face as she slowly sunk down to the ground covering her face with her small dainty pale hands.

I stared in pity for awhile and then realized what was going on. Dakota was laying on the ground hugging her knees and crying letting out a few quiet sobs. The people I called my friends were picking on her. Some just pointing and laughing and others kicking at her knees. I ran down the hallway and looked at Isis on the ground. "You guys stop!" I turned and yelled. "What are you gonna do Sutton?! Hit us?! Oh wait you can't, because you're too nice of a guy!" Drake smirked and retorted.

Right then, out of instinct I punched Drake square in the nose. He fell to the ground and held his nose. I kneeled down next to Dakota. "Are you okay?" I asked a bit concerned as I looked at her tear stained face.

She slowly shook her head and stood up steadily staring at me straight in the eyes. "This is all your fault you douchebag!!!" she screamed in my face. I stared wide eyed as she ran down the hallway and out the doors of the school.

The math teacher came out of the classroom after hearing all the ruckus. She saw Drake on the ground still holding his nose. "Who did this?!" Ms. Hallens asked kneeling down next to Drake. Drake immeditely pointed at me. Ms. Hallens looked at me disapointed and began to lecture me. I didn't hear anything she said. I was still staring in the direction that Dakota had ran. I began sprinting down the hallway ignoring Ms. Hallens as she yelled incoherent words. I ran therough the front office once again ignoring the receptionist as I ran out the doors of the school. I started running towards her house. There was no time to start the car. I had to get to her fast. I ran a few blocks to find the large mansion of a house was revealed in front of my eyes.

I heard quiet sobs. I looked around until I saw a moving shadow in the still shadow of a large tree in the front yard. I went into the shade of the tree and looked up. Dakota was curled up at the top hugging her knees. "Dakota!" I yelled. Dakota shook her head and hugged her knees. "I'm sorry!"

Dakota looked down from the tree. She leaned her head over causing her to lose her balance. She fell off and tried her best to hold on to the thick branch of the tree that she was sitting on. She groaned as the rough tree bark scraped her wrists and she lost her grip. She plummeted to the ground yelling my name. I caught her thankfully. Her eyes were shut tight as she held her fists close to her chest. She slightly opened one eye to realize she was no longer falling. "Are you okay Dakota?" I asked concerned. She smiled shyly and nodded.

I looked into her sparkling eyes and smiled. She smiled back at me, "I'm sorry Sutton... I'm sorry for blowing up on you... and lying about my bruise..." She said apolegetically. I just kept smiling and by surprise, she grabbed my face and kissed me. She pulled away and put her head on my shoulder, "The truth is... I knew you wouldn't become one of 'them'. You were different... And I think I might love you...." Dakota said.
