Chapter One- Bring Me to Life
3 April 2012
Another day had gone by where Harry Styles hadn’t noticed me. It was something to get used to I suppose, since I knew for a fact he’d never notice me. I sighed and opened my laptop. The screen protruded with light and the words Twitter almost seemed to blind me. I scrolled down the home page looking for some sort of interesting tweet to cheer me up, but nothing was catching my eye.
Suddenly, I noticed a familiar name and a smile whipped across my face. Harry Styles tweeted a minute ago. You can do this, Lyric. Today is the day Harry Styles will notice you and tweet you back. Maybe he’ll even follow you.
I hit each letter of the keyboard with extreme force and hit enter as fast as I could. I opened up my mentions and stared at the screen. My eyes began to burn, but I didn’t care. Today was the day. Finally, my mentions had gotten activity and my body began to shake. This is it. This one mention could be Harry Styles’ reply to my tweet.
I clicked the mention and to my utter disappointment, it was not Harry. It was just my best friend, Rose.
@HazzasPussyCat Answer your phone! It’s important! It has to do with a specific band that rhymes with One Perfection!
I rolled my eyes. What could Rose possibly have to tell me about One Direction? I decided to be nice and reply to her. My fingers now lazily tapped the keys on the keyboard.
@SPOONMELIAM What could it possibly be? Can’t you just tweet it to me, Mrs. iPhone? Besides I just woke up so I don’t want to get up!
I hit enter and got out of my bed. I stretched and a tingling sensation rolled down my back. My phone was somewhere in my room, I think. I don’t really use my phone that much anymore since we have all of these video chats and such. Finally, I found it on my dresser. I slide it open and began to type. Before I could say anymore, I got a quick reply.
Rose: Sooo guess what?
Lyric: What is it you have to tell me?
Rose: Well my mom works in a third grade class as you know.
Lyric: Yes, and? What does this have to do with 1D?
Rose: Well there are some cute little Directioners in her class and one of them won tickets to their concert that’s coming up.
Lyric: Lucky
Rose: And she can’t make it. So she’s giving my mom the tickets and there are three tickets. One for me, you, and whatever parent wants to go
Lyric: NO. YOU’RE SHITTING ME.
Rose: No joke. Now get your ass on Skype!
Lyric: Yes Ma’am!
I was trembling. Could this be? I was going to go to a One Direction concert. This was another sign that Harry and I would have some interaction. I signed in to Skype and video called Rose. She had a huge smile smacked on her lips and kept repeating the word “yay.”
“Hello, best friend ever. You are legit the best friend ever, Rose!”
“Oh, but that’s such a huge title to uphold, Lyric. Besides, I have to tell you something else.”
“What?”
“I was just kidding! Revenge is sweet! That’ll teach you for the next time you trick me into thinking Liam followed you!” My jaw dropped and my mouth formed a giant O. My blood began to boil and I scrunched my face in anger. She was sitting on her floor laughing hysterically.
I guess I deserved it. I did tell her Liam followed me on Twitter because I thought it would be funny. I minimized the Skype tab and clicked on Google Chrome. I typed in Tumblr.com and began to scroll down the Dashboard. Pictures of One Direction, Cher Lloyd, the occasional nude, and just about anything else British filled my computer screen. I began to go through and reblog what I thought was worthy.
Rose was arguing with her little brother because he apparently barged into her room without knocking. Sometimes it seems like being an only child was a gift, but trust me, I’d kill to have a little brother at least. I’d get him to like One Direction at a young age so that I wouldn’t have the same problem that Rose did with her brother.
Her brother finally left and she remained quiet for quite some time. I assumed she was either on Twitter or Tumblr doing something. Out of nowhere, she blurted out, “Update your chapter.” I rolled my eyes and giggled.
I had a fanfiction about Harry Styles on a website called Wattpad and she would constantly hound me to update it. I would give in sometimes, but otherwise I would just continue to say no, and it was one of those times. I was too lazy to type my story, and I honestly had no creative juices flowing. I did only wake up about an hour ago.
That’s another thing about me. I always woke up around two or two thirty in the afternoon. What can I say? The night time is my calling. I stay up until about five thirty, maybe even earlier sometimes. It usually depends on what happens.
Rose always tries to keep up with me, but she always ends up falling asleep on me. It was pretty lonely, since I had no one to fangirl with at night, but I had survived it before without her. I usually updated my Instagram account with Preferences and Imagines. I used to take requests, but I would get so many it was beginning to get overwhelming.
“You want to come over?” I jumped in surprise. I wasn’t expecting Rose to talk just yet, so she took me by surprise.
“Um, sure, what time?”
“Now, I guess. I’m really bored, so hurry!” I asked my mom and she said I could. I informed Rose, ended the Skype call, and gathered my things. She had an above ground pool, so I put on a bathing suit and got out a towel just in case. My dad was waiting in the car. I put on my shoes, walked out the door, hopped in the front seat, and we were on our way.
Lyric’s iPod:
@HazzasPussyCat Cute name, babe! Sure, I’ll follow xx
