Sleep Paralysis- Jungkook

Chapter 21

It was the day of the interview, yesterday I had a blast hanging out with Taehyung. We caught up on everything and just talked about life and what's been going on in Korea while I was gone. 

I took deep breathes as I walked into the office building wearing my neatly iron blouse and my jet black pencil skirt. I hastily went to the receptionist and told her my interview number and my details. The receptionist handed me a tag that had my name on it and asked me to wait till they call me interview number. 

While waiting, the people getting interviewed today started piling on and soon I started losing confidence in myself. The number of professional people that are seated next to me became daunting and I started nervously shaking in my seat. 

It was finally my turn to get group interviewed. None the less I aced the interview, the other applicants struggled with English when I breezed through it showing my professional side. The interviewers were certainly surprised by my English skills and out of the box thinking.  

"Park Soeun you have passed onto the second round interviews and skills test please wait outside. As for the rest, you all failed.", The director of the interview informed the people in the room. 

It looks like I was the only one from the media marketing sector that made it through to the second round which was a little daunting. I closed my eyes while waiting for the interview and tried to find a place in my mind where I felt safe, where I felt the most peaceful trying to block out these negative feelings.

My head felt light and my hands felt numb as I heard the receptionist call my name several times. The echoing of my name continued as I couldn't open my eyes, this feeling of numbness was spreading through my body. That's when it hit me. 

It's Hypnos... 

I haven't had this feeling in a long time, I have only felt drowsy whenever Hypnos was around. I could feel myself falling before my world became blank.

After what felt like hours my body starts to reboot and I could slowly feel my limbs as I slowly opened my eyes. Bright light shuns on my face as I looked around this neatly sorted office I was in.  I lifted the neatly place jacket that was over me on to the side and got up from the comfy sofa. 

Panic overtook my systems as I realised I was not in the second round interview. I looked around the spacious office to find an exit, the doors were in the far corner of the room. As soon as I located it I dashed for the door hoping that they would at least let me have a chance to plead my case.

I came into contact with a sturdy chest immediately after opening the door, scared to look up I started at my feet and said a quiet 'sorry' and 'excuse me'. As I tried to avoid further embarrassment. 

"Sorry but, I think you need to stay behind and talk to me for a little bit", I heard this voice coming from behind me, the voice was rather soothing to listen to. 

I halt when I hear the voice coming from behind me. Many questions circulated my brain like who is this man and why was I in his office? 

"Yes...?", I slowly turn around and gave the man I could clearly see now an awkward smile. Honestly, he was very good looking. 

"Hello, my name is Kim Seokjin. I am the head of the marketing and media department here at 'All Seasons Cosmetics'.", The man introduced himself. 

I mentally hit myself as I have just embarrassed myself in front of the person I was meant to work under. I had to try and dig myself out of this situation with a job at least or even try to save that little bit of dignity I had left. I swallowed my pride as I gave Jin a ninety-degree bow.

"I am so terribly sorry", I exclaim looking at the floor as I could not bear to look at Jin's face. 

"No, no its okay~", Jin tried to cheer me up and reassure me everything was okay.

"I am so sorry, I passed out after the first round interviews", I tried explaining what Hypnos did to me without telling Jin about it. 

"I figured when I found you lying on the floor, out cold. Hopefully, the sofa was comfier than the cold ground", Jin tried to use humor to defuse the situation. 

Being around Jin made me relax a bit more, instead of thinking Jungkook is the CEO of the company it would be better if I think of Jin as the CEO. I wouldn't be seeing Jungkook anyways, I would be just a normal employee working five days a week from 8 am to 6 pm.

"I heard great things about you from the first round interviews, and I was meant to be the one who was going to be supervising the test as well as be the interviewer.", Jin explained.

I felt really bad he must have been waiting. 

"And yes I was waiting for you to arrive but you never did. I got worried and set out to find you, and I did on the floor passed out.".

Did he read my mind?

"Thank you so much for saving me", I bowed once again. 

"Please give me one more chance to be able to do the second round interview plus the test", I begged Jin. 

"That's exactly what I wanted to hear from you, take a seat over there in the corner desk and I will bring your exam paper over. After the exam, you and I will have a one on one interview and I will tell you if you passed or not." 

The exam was filled with a lot of scenario questions related to media and marketing such as a particular company not doing well etc. The exam was tougher than I thought because it really made you think outside the box and really try and not produce a generic answer. 

While Jin was looking through my exam all I could do is hang my head low and stare at my hands as I await his orders. 

"So, Miss Park. What do you bring to this company and why should we hire you", Jin asked in a serious tone staring directly in the eyes. 

"I bring overseas experience and my outside the box quick thinking. I as a creative person pride myself in being about to imagine, visualize and execute. 'All Seasons Cosmetics' should hire me because I have a great work ethic and graduated top of my class in Australia. But that is not the reason why you should hire me. The reason why you should hire me is that I am different, I am not washed into the same system as the other applicants are overproduced and stick to the same manual. As part of the Marketing and media sector, I believe that taking risks is necessary to stand out amongst the other competitors." 

After I finished there was a long pause from Jin and he did not speak at all, he just kept looking into my eyes. After the suffocating silence, I heard a slow but loud clap coming from Jin as his face lights up.

"You couldn't have said it any better.", Jin applauded me. 

"I will be expecting to see you starting tomorrow, welcome to the media and marketing sector of 'All Seasons Cosmetics', I expect you to arrive at work at 8 am sharp and leave 6 pm sharp." 

"Congratulations, now you can go downstairs and take your photo and create your ID and company pass."

"Thank you so much, thank you, thank you", I repeatedly bowed and gave a goofy grin. 

Guess I made it into Jungkooks company... I would be lying if I say I didn't care about him or say I wasn't curious about him. 

Jungkook and I are so far from each other socially, he is a CEO of a successful company and I am- 

Just a worker.

Nothings changed over these past five years...
