The week past like a blur. It was currently Saturday and I was just hanging around, lounging on my couch watching re-runs of Gossip Girl. I was meeting up with Sarah and Cora later to go shopping, but until then I was happy enough lazing about.

“Haley! You there?!” My little sister called to me.

“Yeah! What’s up!?” I called back, sitting up to hear her better.

She walked down to me anyways, plopping down onto the couch where my feet were.

“Well I have thought a lot about my attitude these past few days and have decided that I can’t mope about any more. So I have come to apologize for y’know… letting a boy in your room when you were getting changed.” She said, ducking her head in shame, her cheeks blossoming pink.

I laughed a little at her sincerity. “It’s ok Andy! I forgive you.” I chuckled. She brightened up then, turning to face me full on. “I mean, it’s not a big deal right? That guy… Skip or something? Yeah, he’s gay isn’t he?” She asked.

I choked on my own saliva, my face brightening red as I struggled to breathe. “What? Skip? Gay?” I struggled to say. I was now in hysterics, probably looking like a lunatic.

“Yeah…?” She asked unsure. This only caused me to laugh even harder. “Andrea! He’s not-” I was about to tell her that he wasn’t gay but then I thought again. Ha, this could be a little pay back from me for walking into my room and staring whilst I was getting changed.

“Yes. He is indeed gay. But he didn’t want me to tell you or anyone else in fact because he’s a little embarrassed. Hasn’t exactly walked out of the closet yet.” I told her with my best straight face I could muster at the moment.

“So why are you like… dying with laughter?” She asked, curious.

“Ahh, because you guessed it so early, and the other guys have no idea!” I managed on the spot. She obviously decided to believe me because her once curious face turned to thoughtful.

“What are you thinking about?” I asked.

“Well… you’re just so lucky. I’ve always wanted a gay best friend.” She said, crossing her arms over her chest.

It took all I had, not to burst into another fit of giggles. “Yeah, I guess I am pretty lucky in that department.” I agreed, flashing her a toothy smile.

‘OK, well now that you have had time to boast on that you have a gay best friend, I’m going to go for a walk… to find one for myself.” She said.

What the? I mean seriously, what goes on in that little 9 year olds head?

“Ahh, Andy, there’s no need, we can share him.” I said, grinning even wider at the thought.

“Woah! Really, really?” She asked. “Really, really.” I agreed.

“Oh my god! That’s awesome! I’m going to tell da- I mean, no one…. That I have a gay best friend.” She said, hopping up off the couch and skipping down the hallway to her room.

Before I could ask her who ‘da’ was, she had slammed her bedroom door closed and cut me off. Oh well, I will just ask her later.

An hour later, I was seated exactly where I was previously, except this time with a bowel of popcorn. I heard a knock on the door and decided that I was too lazy to get it. I mean, it was probably Sarah and Cora anyways.
