Peggy POV
"We DO have an actual plan, right?" Angelica whispers as we approach the front door of the warehouse. Strangely enough, no one is guarding it.
"John and I will go in first and try to talk things out," Alex says. "If worse comes to worse-"
"If we have to fight," I interrupt.
"If we have to fight," he continues, "you will all enter after us."
"How will we know if we're supposed to come in and fight?" Eliza asks.
"Trust me, Liz. You'll know," John answers. With that, Alex and John disappear inside the warehouse.
"Oh boy. More waiting," Maria sighs sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
John POV
We are noticed almost immediately. There are redcoats EVERYWHERE. A wide variety of looks are thrown our way as we weave through the crowd; confusion, death glares, smug smiles, and pursed lips attempting to contain laughter. I hate having all these eyes on me. Alexander squeezes my hand tightly, as if he senses my discomfort. As we continue to search for George, a voice booms from behind us, causing our bodies to go rigid.
"Well, if it isn't my two favorite people!"
"Hello, George," Alex replies flatly, breathing out through his nose. "I believe you have something that doesn't belong to you." I watch as Alexander's chocolate eyes search George's carefully.
"Do I?" A smirk settles on George's face.
"A girl, actually. Ella." Alex runs his hand through his hair, disheveling his ponytail. The two continue to stare each other down. George purses his lips, as if in thought, and speaks again.
"Nope. I don't believe I've acquired any young girls lately."
"He didn't say she was young," I say, crossing my arms. George turns his attention to me, his eyebrows raised. After a few incredibly long seconds, he huffs and throws his hands in the air.
"You got me, detectives! I have the girl!" Overdramatic. Sarcastic. Annoying.
"Where is she, George?" I spit.
"Now, Johnny boy," George starts. I hear Alexander growl beside me. "It's not that simple."
"What do you want? Money?" I ask, stepping closer to the man.
"You both have been taking and ruining EVERYTHING for me these past years. It's simply my turn to return the favor." His smirk grows wider.
"Wha-" I'm interrupted as the sound of a gunshot splits the air. Next, I hear the worst possible thing I could ever imagine: Alexander cry out in pain behind me.
"Alex!" I shriek, tears already streaming down my face as I turn around and fall on my knees beside him. "No...." I whisper, cradling his head in my lap.
Peggy POV
One gunshot. John screams in terror. Hercules kicks the door in.
Third Person POV
Everyone draws their weapons as they barge through the entrance. Eliza throws a knife and hits a man in the shoulder. Herc swings his bat and sends three men flying. Lafayette slices through the crowd, sending blood soaring from open wounds. Maria launches four men to the floor with her mace. Angelic stabs a man in the shin. He cripples and falls to the ground. Peggy nails a man in the face with a paintball, trying to clear herself a path in the direction of John's sobs. Suddenly, though, his sobs turn into something entirely different. As John finally comes into Peggy's view, she catches sight of John angrily fighting off anyone who got remotely close to his dying boyfriend. He is grossly outnumbered, but John couldn't care less. All he could think about was doing everything possible to keep Alexander alive. Peggy quickly joins him, fists numb as she throws punch after punch, her paintball gun strung across her back. It's a messy and tragic thing to watch, but when the men finally decide to focus their attention toward the others, John falls back down to his knees, tears streaming down his face. Peggy allows herself to sit beside him. She finally notices the blood covering John. Alexander's blood.
"Please, Alex. Stay alive. Stay alive for me," John sobs, desperately gripping Alex's shirt and pleading into his chest.
"Alex," Peggy whispers, her voice cracking. It's the only thing she can manage to say. She realizes that if they are going to be able to save Alexander, they needed to get Ella and get out now.
"Liz! Angie!" she desperately calls, grabbing her sisters' attention from across the large space. She needs them to help John. They follow in the direction of her voice, and Peggy turns back to Alex and John.
"Hang on, Alexander," she says before running back through the crowd of gang members. "Laf! Mari! Herc!" she cries upon approaching them. They snap their heads toward her. "We have to find George! We'll make him tell us where Ella is. If we don't do this quick, we're gonna loose Alex!"
"What?!" Laf shouts in terror.
"Alex got shot! Now hurry! Follow me!" At Peggy's words, the four of them begin their search for the "king". They fight off the goons as they come. Suddenly, Maria spots him.
"Hey, asshole!" she shouts. George turns around and is immediately swept off his feet by Maria. He then sits helplessly on the ground as they all point their weapons at him.
"Well, isn't this fun?" he breaths.
"Where is my daughter?" Hercules grunts.
"Why would I tell you?" Such a stupid question. Lafayette raises his sword to George's throat, causing him to gulp.
"Alright!" he squeals before explaining to us where she is being held. Before Herc and Laf run off to find her, Laf kicks him straight in the dick.
"Never come near my family or friends ever again," he spits. George simply moans in pain as a response. Peggy and Maria stay behind to keep watch of him. Peggy bounces anxiously as the seconds tick by. It seems like an eternity passes before Laf and Herc return with Ella and Theodosia.
"Theo?" Maria questions.
"I'll explain later. Let's get out of here!" Theodosia replies. They quickly run to get the other's before narrowly escaping through the front door. They pile into the van as fast as possible, Angelica taking a place in the driver's seat and Eliza in the passenger seat. The others sit in the back with John, who is holding his barely-alive boyfriend close to his chest. They needed to get to the hospital soon or Alex was going to die.
"Floor it, Angie," Eliza commands.
