Mason sat on his wheelchair as he absentmindedly took in the view of his family's garden. Although he didn't look like it, Mason's heart felt very heavy. He didn't understand where things had gone wrong. He thought that things were going well with Susan, but then she told him that she had a fiancé. It caused him to wonder if he just imagined that their relationship was fine.

Just as he was about to drown in his thoughts, he heard a soft meow.

After calming his slightly startled heart, he began to look around for the sound. Although he knew that animals, especially cats didn't like him; it didn't stop him from looking at them. So, when the small silverish cat approached him of her own violation he was very surprised, even more surprised when she allowed him to pet her.

Ecstatic, he immediately picked it up and placed her on his lap. When he touched her and she didn't try to run away, he was so happy he momentarily forgot all his problems.

"How did you get in here?" Mason asked curiously.

Mason didn't really expect a response, so he was a little surprised when she meowed and licked his fingers.

"Well I suppose it doesn't matter." Mason said with a soft smile. "Let's go inside, I think you'll like it in there."

Turning his wheelchair around, he wheeled into the mason. He went all the way back into his bedroom, ignoring the surprised look of the maids.

After closing the door to his room, he went to his desk and grabbed his phone, sending a quick text to his mother. He wanted to let her know about his new pet, he didn't want anyone accidentally chasing her out of the house.

Turning his attention back to his new cat, he gently picked her up and studied her. For the most part she looked like an ordinary cat, but somehow something about her was a little strange. She was extremely calm, even when he poked and prodded her, she barely reacted. He was beginning to worry that she was sick.

After looking at her for a few minutes he sighed softly and said, "How about I give you a name?"

Raising her head, she let out a soft meow as if acknowledging his intention.

"How about fluffy?" Mason asked with a slight chuckle.

Receiving no reaction, Mason decided to try something else, "You don't like that? Then how about silver? Your fur isn't exactly silver but somehow I think the name suits you."

Mason swore he saw her roll her eyes before she meowed in response.

Shaking his head, effectively clearing his thoughts, Mason focused on Silver, "Glad you like the name. Get use to it quick because you're going to be hearing it a lot from now on."

Silver released what Mason could only imagine was a sigh before she rested her head on her paws and closed her eyes.

Taking advantage of her relaxed state, Mason began petting Silver's head as his mind began to wonder.

"Maybe...maybe this is a sign that things will get better." Mason closed his eyes and whispered, "Please...please let this be a sign."
