It was almost nightfall and I was already liking everyone. To my surprise I actually fit in with these people, I wasn't alone anymore. As I chatted with Daryl and Glenn I realized how lucky I was to find them.

"it's almost night, let's find some shelter" yelled Rick. We all split up and decided to meet in an hour.

I went with Daryl of course but our search was unsuccessful, we were the first back at our meeting point so we sat and waited.

"I see you're fitting in well" Daryl said.

"Yeah, there's something about these people, they're... different than other people."

"I know what you mean. When we first joined them Merle and I were gonna raid 'em in the middle of the night. When Merle disappeared I told myself I was still gon' do it, but I couldn't bring myself to. That's when I realized I belong with these people." I looked at Daryl and there were tears in his eyes. I gave him a hug and rested my head on his shoulder.

It was about ten more minutes until someone else arrived, it was Rick and Lori.

"We didn't find nothin'" said Rick.

"Neither did we" I replied. We waited and eventually Shane, Carl, Glenn, Andrea, Dale, Carol and T-Dog arrived.

"Guess what y'all, we found a cabin" said T-Dog enthusiastically as he and Glenn emerged from the forest. We all cheered with joy and followed him to the cabin.

It was small. There was one bed, a fridge and a toilet in the corner, but it would keep us sheltered and that's all we needed.

"Well whoever owned this place knew what he was doing" laughed Daryl who was over by the fridge. He stepped aside to reveal two 6-packs of beer and enough liquor for everyone.

I jumped up and ran over, grabbing two beers and a bottle of Vodka. Everyone was staring at me but I gave little notice as I opened a beer and chugged it down. I looked up expecting everyone to still be staring at me but everyone was crowded by the fridge.

"Hey dad, can I have some?" Asked Carl.

"No honey" said Lori, who he completely ignored.

"Come on dad, Rain is" expostulated Carl.

"Well I think Rain is a little older than 15" laughed Rick.

"No, I'm 15" I said between my sips of beer.

Rick's mouth was hanging open in shock and Carl took that as a yes, grabbing a can of beer. I watched as he opened it and took a long swig, swallowing it with a grimace.

"Still want some now little man?" Laughed Shane.

"Hell yeah" replied Carl as he took another gulp.

It was a jolly night of drinking and laughing. When we finally decided it was time for some sleep I slept on the floor next to Daryl. I expected it to be another night of me lying awake but I fell asleep as soon as I shut my eyes.
