Chris falls against his car as Tim grabs him by the shirt and raises his fist to punch him again."TIM! WHAT THE F*CK!!??" Chance yells as he grabs the Cajun's arm, preventing the second punch.
"GET THIS CAJUN SLIM BAG OFF OF ME!!" Chris shouts.
"TIM! BACK OFF!" Chance yells as he positions himself between the two men.
"YOU BEAVER FACE MOTHER F*CKER!! IF YOU EVER COME NEAR ADAM AGAIN, SO HELP ME!!" Tim yells out in anger as he pokes Chris hard in the chest.
"Tim, please, calm down." Chance says, trying to calm his voice as he pushes the angry cajun back.
"He's my brother! You can't keep me away from him!" Chris shouts.
"Wanna bet? I'm taking my husband home and if you step one foot on my property, I'll shoot first and asks questions later." Tim growls.
"Oh, this is good." Chris chuckles as he pulls his phone from his pocket. "Assault, making threats on my life? I'm sure the police will be interested in that."
"Yeah, go ahead, make your call. Maybe they'll put us in the same cell. Chance won't be there to stop me from kicking your ass." Tim snarls.
"Now why on earth would I be in jail?" Chris says with a smirk. "I've not done anything."
"Oh? Really? Shoving your brother down with intentions of doing bodily harm is legal? Since when?" Tim asks with a raised brow.
"I didn't shove him down." Chris replies.
"That's not what Adam said." Chance says, shaking his head.
"Adam just told us that you intentionally pushed him down on that icy sidewalk." Tim says with a slight shrug. "It looks to me like you were trying to force him to stay longer against his will. Shall we say, holding him hostage?"
"You're f*cking nuts." Chris says as he slips his phone back into his pocket. Chance silently breathes a sigh of relief.
"True, I tend to get this way when someone tries to get my husband to file for divorce and then hurts him when he refuses." Tim says as he takes a step toward Chris.
"Tim, don't." Chance warns, putting a hand on the brunette's chest.
"Now, I'm going back inside and when they release Adam, I'm taking him home. Our home." Tim says. "And you, my dear brother-in-law, are to keep your ass away from our home. GOT IT!!?? Go home! You're no longer needed here."
Tim turns and heads back inside with Chance following closely behind him.
"Oh, thank God." Adam says, sitting in a wheelchair fully dressed. Tim smiles as he stoops down beside his husband in the chair. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Tim chuckles as he looks down at his swollen knuckles. "Are you ready to go home?"
"The doctor is supposed to come back in with a pain prescription." Adam says. "Then I'll be ready."
"Did you tell him that you were signed in under the wrong name?" Chance asks.
"No, I forgot. I was too worried about what was going on outside." Adam says as he shoots his husband a not so happy look.
"Everything is fine. I think Chris and I came to an understanding." Tim smiles. "He stays away from the bayou and he gets to live a little longer."
Before Adam could reply the doctor walks in.
"Adam said that you would be his attending physician once he returned home?" The doctor asks, turning his attention to Chance.
"Yes, that's right." Chance nods.
"Here's a copy of everything. His x-rays, the procedure that we did, his medication." The doctor says as he hands Chance a folder.
"Uh, there seemed to have been an error when his brother signed him in." Tim says. "Adam's last name is Foust, not Rupp."
"Oh, okay. I guess we need to get this all changed then. Shouldn't take but just a few minutes. I'll have it ready for you at the desk." The doctor says as he retrieves the folder from Chance.
"Thank you." Tim says with a smile.
After the doctor leaves, Adam takes Tim by the hand and gently kisses the back of it. He sighs then looks up at his husband.
"So what happened outside?" Adam asks.
"Honestly? Not as much as I would have liked." Tim answers.
"Your hand is bruised and swollen. So there must have been punches thrown." Adam says as he rubs Tim's swollen knuckles.
"Just one punch. SOMEBODY saved the asshole from a well-deserved ass kicking." Tim says as he shoots Chance an aggravated look.
"Tim, you heard him. He was more than happy to have you arrested for assault." Chance says in defense.
"How did you stop him?" Adam asks.
"We turned the tables on him and said that we could have him arrested as well for assault." Tim shrugs.
"He didn't argue about it or try to defend himself?" Adam asks.
"He first said he didn't do anything but eventually put his phone away. His actions spoke pretty clear. Guilty as charged." Tim says.
"I knew I wasn't imagining it." Adam says, shaking his head.
"Baby, I'm so sorry. I know it has to hurt with him being your brother." Tim says softly as he rubs Adam on the cheek.
"Yeah, it does. But he brought all on himself." Adam says with a heavy sigh. "Right now, I just want to go home to Teche."
"We probably won't be able to get a flight until tomorrow. There's a hotel about a block away. We can get some sleep and head home tomorrow." Chance says as he opens the door for Tim to push Adam out in the wheelchair.
~~
Tim and Chance didn't get much sleep that night. Adam, even though knocked out from his pain medicine, would groan in his sleep every time he moved. Adam's moans were like an alarm clock to his husband.
Tim rolls over and wraps his arm around the blonde in hopes to keep him still enough so he could get some sleep. That idea didn't work.
Finally, giving up on sleep, Tim grabs his clothes and slips to the bathroom to take a shower. When exiting the bathroom, he sees a very tired looking doctor sitting up on the side of his bed, yawning.
"Morning. Shower's available." Tim mumbles in a tired voice.
"Might as well." Chance says with a yawn. "I hope Rob knows I will be taking an extra day off to get so rest." He adds as he stumbles to the bathroom.
Tim sighs as he sits down on the bed next to his sleeping husband. He looked like an angel as he slept. The brunette knew the first few days would be painful for his lover. But he intended to do whatever he needed to do to make Adam comfortable.
'Who needs sleep anyways? It's over-rated, right?' Tim chuckles lightly and shakes his head at his thoughts. He was just happy to be leaving this cold ass place and get back to the warmth of his swamp. He chuckles again as he thought about how much he was like Shrek.
