*Part 1/2*

"Love, we've been dating for three months now. Why have I never seen your place?" Tom asked as the two of you were cuddling on his couch while watching TV.

You shrugged. "I like your house better," You answered.

"Yeah, but don't you think I deserve to see your house? You're my girlfriend and I want to see where you live," He said, propping himself up on his elbows. You sat up, paused the movie you were watching and crossed your legs.

"I get it, Tom, but I'm just not ready for that yet," You said. "I'll let you know as soon as you can come over, okay?" You twirled the string of your hoodie around your fingers.

He frowned. "Are you hiding something from me?"

"Why would you say that?" You asked.

"You're fiddling. You only do that when you're nervous or when you're hiding something from me," He said. "What is it?"

You shook your head. "I'm not hiding anything from you." You plastered a fake smile on your lips to make your lie believable. "I should get going."

Tom sighed and you could swear you heard disappointment. "Okay. I'll call you tomorrow." You got up from the couch and collected your things.

"I love you," You said and he shot you a quick smile.

"Love you too," He stated. You leaned in to kiss him but he averted his head so the only place left was his cheek.

"Goodnight, Tom."

"Night."

After a short car ride home, you opened the door and immediately, your four-year-old daughter jumped in your arms. "Hi, Lucy," You smiled happily, holding her close to your chest. "Did you have fun with Haylee?" You asked as Lucy's babysitter came up to you.

"Yes! We played Clue and I won!" Lucy grinned broadly.

"Oh, did you now?" You asked. "I bet you cheated."

"I did not cheat!" The small girl exclaimed.

"I'm surprised, 'cause you always cheat when we play Clue!" You tickled her side and she let out a set of giggles. "You need to go to bed, young lady. It's way past your bed time."

"But I'm not tired," She pouted.

"I'll read you a story and then you'll be tired in no time," You said. "Why don't you go put on your pyjamas and I'll be right up with you?" You put her down and she scurried off.

With a chuckle and a shake of your head, you turned to Haylee. "I hope she wasn't too hyper. She had apple juice before I left," You said, fetching your wallet from your purse.

"Nah, she was great," Haylee chuckled. "Just between you and me, she did cheat at Clue. I went to the kitchen and when I returned, I saw her rushing to put down the envelope."

You giggled and shook your head. "Thank you for watching her." You paid her the usual plus extra.

"Of course. We always have fun," She smiled. "Goodnight, Y/N."

"Goodnight!" You waved her goodbye before you ascended the stairs to your daughter's room. You found her already curled up in her bed, clutching her stuffed zebra to her chest. "Hi, baby," You smiled, sitting down on the edge of her bed. "What story should I read you tonight?"

"The one about the popcorn!" Lucy grinned.

"Okay," You chuckled. You took the book from her nightstand and flipped to the right page. You dramatically cleared your throat, which made the small girl giggle. "A piece of popcorn escaped from the pan and flew across the kitchen like Superman. It ping-ponged back and forth between the oven and the freezer. Then it shot up to the ceiling like a daredevil trapeezer. I tried and tried to catch it, but never missed a trick. So I finally gave up, and ate a liquorice stick." By the time you reached the end of your sentence, Lucy was snoring soundly.

You smiled and pressed a featherlight kiss to her head. She tightened her grip around the zebra and her lips curled up into a small smile. You turned on the night light and put away the book. "Goodnight, baby," You whispered before you yourself went to bed.

While tapping his foot anxiously, Tom stood in front of your door, hesitant to knock on the door. He breathed deeply and knocked three times. It remained silent for a few seconds before the door opened. Tom looked down to find a young girl who couldn't be older than five, standing before him.

"Hi, er... Is Y/N home?" He asked.

"Yeah, she's in the shower," The girl said.

"Can I come in?" The girl nodded and darted off. Tom slowly followed her into the house and looked around. He found the child in the living room, lying upside down on the couch while watching a cartoon of Spider-Man. He chuckled softly to himself before he sat down on the other end of the couch. "Who are you?" The girl asked and he shot up.

"I'm er... I'm a friend of your mum," He quickly said, adding a smile.

"Lucy, I told you to clean up your-- Tom!" You exclaimed as soon as he came into view. You were wearing nothing but a bathrobe and a towel wrapped around your hair. "Wh-What are you doing here?" You rambled, taking your hair down and hurriedly running a hand through it.

"I came to see you," He said. "I hate how we left things yesterday so I came by to talk things out."

You knelt down before your daughter. "Luce, can you go play in your room? The grownups need to talk." Lucy nodded and turned off the TV. She skipped out of the room and you waited until she was upstairs.

"Is that...?" Tom asked softly, not sure what to say.

"My daughter? Yeah, it is," You said, playing with the hem of your bathrobe. "Tom, look-"

"Why didn't you tell me that you have a child? Don't you think I would've liked to know?" He asked and you detected the angry undertone in his voice.

You closed your eyes. "I was sixteen, Tom. It was my first time and I had no idea what I was doing. He knocked me up and didn't want anything to do with me. He even gave me money to get an abortion," You said quietly. "She is my everything and I don't want to introduce her to anyone unless I'm sure they're not going to leave. She gets attached quickly and then, if we break up, it'll be way harder for her."

"Y/N, I had no idea. I'm really sorry," He said, sitting down closer to you and taking your hands in his. "But I can assure you, I'm not going to leave. Especially now that I know of your daughter. Lucy, right?" You nodded.

You sat in silence for a couple of minutes. "Thank you for not freaking out," You said.

He nodded. "Of course." He wrapped his arms around you and kissed the top of your head.

"Would you like to properly meet her?" You asked, sitting up. "I mean, I'd like to introduce you to her. As my boyfriend."

"Are you serious?" Tom asked and you heard the faintest bit of excitement.

"Yeah. You mean a lot to me so I think the two most important people in my life should properly meet," You answered. "I'm gonna change and then I'll bring her down. Wait here."

You rushed to the bathroom, got dressed and picked up your daughter from her room.

"Lucy, I want you to meet someone." You sat down beside Tom with Lucy in your lap. "Do you remember how I told you that I have been spending time with a friend?" You asked and she nodded. "Well, he's more than a friend." You turned to Tom. "Lucy, meet Tom, my boyfriend."

"Hi," She said quietly before cuddling into your chest.

"He makes me very happy and I would like it if he could come hang out with us every once in a while. Is that okay with you?" You asked.

"Does he like watching movies?" Lucy asked.

"He does," You answered. "And guess what? He is a superhero."

Lucy gasped. "Really? Which?"

"Spider-Man," Tom answered and her jaw dropped.

"Mommy's dating a superhero!" She exclaimed before jumping into Tom's arms. He was unsure of what to do for a second before he hugged the girl. You smiled happily and couldn't help the tears that pooled your eyes.
