10-year-old Cairo Minnelli
"Oh my God Pops!" I yelled over my brother's excited screaming. Our first real gun. I couldn't believe the shit if you told me.
"Happy birthday my boys." My Pops, Antonio, beamed proudly. We stood at the private gun range, where my Uncle Amiri and Grandpop Aries gave us extensive gun lessons. We learned everything they knew about guns, and different types of defense.
Aries and Alex practiced on their aims with us. Friendly competitions between brothers kept us sharp. I liked that the most.
After lunch one week during the summer, they finally let us shoot targets alone. I finished first, and my target was the most shot up.
"They natural." My Pops was proud of me. Well, of both of us. Adonis beamed with me.
"You think they'll have that too?" Santoni asked. We were eating lunch at the range with the Santoni, Moreau, and Pierroux boys.
"I'm not completely sure but I'm preparing for it just in case." Grandpop sighed for a moment before drawing our attention to the grenade in his hand. "If they do end up being that way, they'll be the best at it."
I wouldn't know what he meant by that for a few more years.

"Did you make the run?" I asked Adonis. He hit me with a 'really nigga' face. I couldn't help but laugh. "It's three am and I got ACT to take in the morning.
"I mean yeah, the run is complete. Let's go." He checked the surroundings one more time. I took the safety off my gun and got in the driver's seat of the throwaway car. "How much did you make?"
"A smooth milli." Adonis confirmed. Immediately, he split it in half with me. I smirked. My brother. "Always." I knew what he was referring to.
"Anyways, have you heard from Pierroux?"
"Yeah, him and King gonna pull up in the morning after your test and we going to London after that."
"Bet." I kept going through my mirrors, but I couldn't shake that we were being followed. I turned on a random corner and my suspicions were true. "We being followed, Don." I mumbled.
"Bet..." somehow, we switched seats in the car without stopping and I grabbed my gun. Adonis bent the corner closer to our exit before the car started bussing at us. Slightly shaken, I started bussing back. The car sped up faster.
"Punch it!" I took Adonis gun while he reloaded mine. I shot a front tire out on the car. Adonis hit the corner far too fast and it threw us out the car. Running on adrenaline, we took off on foot. Three more guns strapped me down. The car slows down.
"You think you can get over on us?" the guy yelled at us in the forest. Suddenly another car pulls up.
"Y'all niggas need some help?" Kingsley Pierroux starts laughing with his brother Houston as they approached the scene. Now the offending men don't know who to shoot.
Taking it upon myself, I shot the man holding us at point blank range. I only meant to scare him. I didn't mean to kill him.
The man's partner tried to shoot us in revenge, but I shot him in the back of the head.
"Oh shit..." I was shaken.
"Better him than us." Kingsley commented as he smirked at the dead bodies. You right, better them than us, I thought. But I never forgot that feeling.
