Ugh! Monday... Seriously guys, tell me something that is worse than a Monday. Seriously, anything!
Monday meant only one thing. School. I hated school more than I hated Ariel Crimson, my one, and only nemesis. I may have been the best in combat and archery but in my studies, I was crap. So horrible that I am sure that I wouldn't pass the class without my father's help. No, he won't just pass me, that's not my father at all. It was the opposite, actually, he made a classmate help me in my studies. That's how I made my first friend, Jake and later on my second friend, Claire.
Fortunately, for me, the year was almost to an end. With a little concentration and training, I would soon carry the name of an Exterminator, or Demon Slayer as I liked to call it. There were a lot of jobs that you could do, Creator, Healer, Teacher, Guard, but being an exterminator was the most difficult. I was aiming for that since The incident and I wasn't going to stop now, not now not ever. For nothing and for no one.
I got up from the bed and headed for the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face, not bothering to put on makeup. I looked in the mirror and scowled. My hair was a mess, it took me at least 30 minutes to brush it all and it still was wild as a jungle. I shrugged and put them in a messy bun. I picked up the School uniform, a white jean with an also white top. Of course, decorated by the Institute's symbol. I put on my black combat boots to make a difference in the all-white outfit and tun out of my room. I was late for breakfast, again.
I scanned the cafeteria for my best friend Clairy, quickly locating her straight, blonde hair that seemed to always be in place, unlike my own. She was sitting at our usual table, big, blue eyes searching the place. She spotted me, a big, kind smile that reached her ears appeared on her face. I smiled back and walked to her. I tried not to pay attention to my classmate's glarings. Of course, they learned for my failure from Ariel, the biggest Bitch the Institute ever meat. Her See abilities made it easy for her to be the biggest gossip girl in the school. Maybe if I was a Seer too I would have Seen the demon approaching me and my reputation wouldn't be destroyed. But I wasn't a Seer, in fact, I had no idea what my special gift was. For what I knew, I was one of these rare cases where I wasn't special at all. I could slay demons but that was how far my abilities could go. Claire was a creator, Jake was a Protector. I was just me.
'' Good Morning!'' Clairy chimed happily.
'' Hi,'' I said briskly and took a seat next to her.
'' I knew that you would be late again so I pick some breakfast for you too!'' She said and gave me a chocolate cupcake. Mh, chocolate... I loved chocolate.
'' So, what happened yesterday?'' she I asked, though I was sure that she already knew.
'' Nothing happened...'' I said and looked away.
'' I mean with the mission, how was the mission?'' she asked again but I ignored her.
''Hey! I am trying to have a serious conversation with you!''
