Flowery Path Filled With Thorns

Chapter 3

(Lucy's POV)
I groggily opened my heavy eyelids and tried to blink away the blur that filled them. My entire body felt heavy as if being weighed down by rocks and my hand was warm, and clinging onto something. "Where am I?" I wondered out loud my voice quiet and hoarse. "Oh you're finally awake Ms. Heartfilia how are you feeling?" A mans voice answered back. he was sitting in a chair next to me, a book in one hand and the other was held tightly by me. I felt my face heat up in embarrassment. Who is this man? "Would you like some water?" He stood up briefly depriving my hand of his warmth and quickly replacing it with a glass of ice cold water. I followed his movements, completely captivated by his handsome face. Even from a distance you could tell he has a lean, muscular body, and he looks to be of average height with a slightly tan skin tone, black eyes, and spiky pink-colored hair. "You're throat has suffered some slight damage, so try drinking through this straw for now." I graciously sipped through the straw and set the cup down on the table that hovered above one side of my bed. The man sat back down and grabbed my hand gently giving it a slight squeeze. I looked at his warm smiling face with confusion. "I don't mean to be rude. But who are you?" Suddenly I felt strained, I could feel my heartbeat rush though my head as it throbbed in pain. "Ms. Heartfilia are you okay?" The man leaned forward and gently caressed my hand. An image of him appeared briefly in my head, he was carrying me, I felt safe and warm. "I...I know you." I grabbed my head as it throbbed. "I just... why do I know you?" The man moved his free hand to my forehead and massaged it gently, the pain slowly seeping away. "My name is Natsu, I happened past a room you were being held in, and brought you here. I wanted to make sure you were okay before leaving so I've stayed by your side since then. I should let the doctor know you've woken up though." I laid my head back on the pillow and sighed softly listening to his retreating footsteps as he stepped quietly out of the room.

(Natsu's POV)
This worked out far better than I imagined. It seems she's forgotten most of FairyTails involvement. I quickened my pace to find the doctor and confirm my theory. I found the older doctor from before and Mr. Heartfilia speaking quietly in front of the nurses station. I cleared my throat gaining their attention. "Ms. Heartfilia is awake now, but her memory seems a little hazy." They both looked at me in surprise and excitement, then quickly dashed towards her room. Her father running straight to her and grabbing her hands. "Lucy! My sweet princess! Are you hurting anywhere? Please tell daddy if your hurting." He frantically begged. "My head and throat hurt a little but I feel fine otherwise" she rasped out. The doctor stepped forward on the other side of the bed. "Ms.Heartfilia I'm the head doctor involving your care, I'm going to take your vitals, then I have just a few questions to ask alright?" She nodded in understanding and sat up to allow him to take her vitals. "Everything seems to be normal." He smiled writing down the results in her file. "Now for a few questions, are you feeling pain anywhere besides your head and throat? Any pain or discomfort at all?" She looked down for a moment. "Well, my body aches a bit and stings like I've been cut, but neither feel severe." He tentatively wrote down her answer and proceeded with the next question. "Do you know why you're here? Can you remember anything that happened before you awoke today." She clenched her fists tightly in her lap and scrunched her face. "I remember I was meeting with my best friend at our favorite cafe but I was running a bit behind. A woman stopped me and asked if I knew where 3rd street was. After telling her, I tried to catch a cab; I remember hailing it, but I don't remember getting in. Everything is real fuzzy after that. The only other thing I can remember is Mr.Dragneel carrying me out of a blurry room." Was she somehow drugged by that woman? Could that woman be connected to Rufus and Orga. If she remembers what she looks like could she describe her to sketch artist? If that woman is related to Saber Tooth, she might be the clue we need in finding their leader.  I was pulled from my thoughts once the doctor began speaking. "I'll give this statement to the police along with the pertinent medical information. If they have any more questions or concerns I'll have to request that they wait a few more days for you to rest and sort things out in your mind. I'll take my leave now and let you rest." And with that the doctor quickly walked out the door.
