After the incident that happened in Romalia, the Avardian emperor did not take the incident kindly, he decided to declare war against Silverden after the 20 years Armistice which was agreed from their predecessors.
The news was spread in both Empires as the Avardian empire began their campaign against the Silverden Enemies.
Samantha and Mathew were both requested to meet the Emperor of Avardian at once, at first they refused to but they changed their mind once Nicholas told them of the dire situations of their soldiers, the twenty years of peace made them weak and the members of the thirteen knights either perished or retired.
Mathew agreed on meeting the Emperor but he and Samantha have to think about it for a while because they do not know where to leave Katyusha.
"I shall think about it, you will know that I agree once I go there." Mathew said while he was resting his palm on the forehead of Katyusha who was sleeping.
Nicholas nodded as he left the house along with the two soldiers.
The next day as the sun rises Mathew thought if a good idea if Katyusha would be enrolled in the knight academy so that they can check on her while they train the new thirteen knights of the Empire.
"What if we enroll her to the knight academy" Mathew said to Samantha while he was peeling some potatoes
"Well you do know that place reeks with arrogant sons and daughters of the nobles" Samantha replied as she lit the campfire.
"But we have to go help them fight otherwise they will just be some fodders" Mathew said as he prepared a small cauldron filled with water.
"And this Empire will fall apart" Samantha said as she released a deep sigh "Very well" she added as she stopped on what she was doing.
"We shall head to the capital by tomorrow Morning we should arrive a few weeks by a carriage" Mathew said as he placed the cualdron on the campfire.
The day has passed with Mathew and Samantha preparing for the journey and for Katyusha she was helping them.
The next day as Mathew woke up, he tends the horses and placed the things that they will need inside their carriage while Samantha was preparing their breakfast.
They eventually finished their chores and eating their meal, they then prepaired themselves on a long journey to the capital and they left Romalia.
Meanwhile at the capital of Avardia, the emperor called upon his war council to discuss about the war efforts against the Silverden Empire.
"It has been long since the dawn of time, we fought against our greatest rival."the king exclaimed.
"we thought peace may be brought upon us but it seems that it was never achievable if one still exists" he added.
"but Sire, our troops are rather weaker than before"one of the nobles said.
"not only that they are all inexperienced in combat"said the other.
"Our logistics are fine, we can manage to train them fast enough in order to fit the standards" the general said as he made an entrance from the door.
"You seem to be late?" A noble mockingly said.
"Well, I had been meeting with old friends" he replied as he stood on the other southern side of the table, near the door.
"Ah I see, those rowdy scoundrels?" The noble mockingly asked with a smirk.
"Well remember the last war? Those people who survived the ambush" the general said with a stern face towards the rude noble.
"Enough fighting!" the king shouted as he raised his right hand
"My apologies my lord" they both replied as they bowed down.
The two then remained silent as the council continues to plan on their counter attack.
Days have passed and Mathew and his family arrived at the gates of the capital where they were intercepted by two guards.
"Sir may we check your carriage?" One asked as he approaches closer"Very well, you may" mathew replied.
The other person was going to the back of the carriage while the other one remained on Mathew's side as if he was interrogating Mathew, suspecting he was a spy.
"Can you state your business here?" The soldier asked.
"Well I'm here to meet my old friend" Mathew replied with a smile.
"Is there any weapons ir some sort?" The soldier asked while raising his right eyebrow
"Well yes I have been told to bring it with me to train the new recruits, those old lads never gets old"Mathew answered with a chuckle.
"I see-" the soldier replied but was abruptly stopped as he saw a medal "I..Isn't that a royal cross??" He surprisingly asked.
"Well yes" Mathew replied "my friend told me to wear it" he added.
"V..very well come in sir" the soldier said as he opened the gates making Mathew and his family enter.
"Sir why did we let them oass with ease?" The soldier asked to the other.
"He's a veteran, one of the soldiers who survived the ambush during the war between the two empires" he replied
"I..I see" the soldier sutteringly replied.
"I wonder whats happening to our empire now that the veterans are here..it must be a bad omen" the soldier exclaimed as he released a deep sigh.
Mathew and his family has finally arrived to the capital where they were greeted by Nicholas who offered them to stay to stay to his Estate to which they agreed, however Katyusha was seemingly saddened as if she had a bad memory regarding to the place. She felt like something bad happened but she cannot recall what it is, a fuzzy memory that she does not understand what truly happened.
After a few extra hours of traveling from the capital to Nicholas' Estate along with their long talk between friends, they have arrived and yhey retired with their assigned room to rest to prepare for whatever event may happen on the next day.
To be continued..
