Bom, Ara and Byeol were headed to the cafeteria for their lunch break, taking a quick stop at their lockers.
"Look, I'm not saying that Hyunjin is afraid of you but he's definitely afraid of you," Bom chuckled, teasing her younger cousin.
"He's not afraid of me! How many times do I have to tell you guys he's just shy." Byeol huffed, looking at her cousin before staring longingly at the tall black haired boy that stood across the hallway. He was staring at her and once she caught his eye, she started to smile at him. But he hurried away, towards the lunch room. Byeol huffed again.
"I think he's just intimidated by your dashing good looks." Ara smiled, closing her locker as quietly as she could.
"What? But why? I'm the least intimidating person alive, why would he find me intimidating?" Byeol snickered, annoyed at her cousins. Not because they were lying, but because they were right.
"Byeol, you're like the prettiest girl in this damn school. You're blonde, blue eyed and beautiful. Those are the three key B's." Bom explained. The three girls started walking towards the lunch room quickly, as they wanted to catch a seat.
"Not to mention your RBF. It's pretty scary sometimes." Ara jumped in.
"Oh well, geez my b I was made this way. Someone take me out of my misery." She sighed sarcastically. Ara pushed her glasses back on her nose.
"On a date or with a sniper?" She asked Byeol.
"Surprise me." Byeol sighed softly.
Often Byeol would think about Hyunjin. She hadn't actually interacted with him before unfortunately. She wanted to be nice and appear approachable. But every time she got even remotely close to him, he freaked out. She went to the same after school clubs as him. They even went to the same dance studio! Yet, nothing had happened between them. She really liked him, and did not know how to tell him if he didn't let her. Jeongin had told her multiple times not to give up but she just didnt think that was possible, seeing as Hyunjin was so stuck up on pushing her away. She sighed again, thinking about the only time they were able to talk. Or well, the only time she talked to him. Although, it didn't really count as talking.
"Now class, you will write an anonymous comment on the essay you receive. It is to be turned in tomorrow. Again, its anonymous so no names written on them!" The professor stressed as she had passed out the papers, placing them face down on the desks of the eager students.
Byeol secretly hoped she got Hyunjin's paper and that Hyunjin got hers. The teacher placed a paper on his desk. He turned it over and kept a poker face. He didn't look at anyone and put it inside his folder, going back to doing the chemistry homework that was due the next period. She sighed and went to look at the paper she recieved on her desk. She almost fainted at seeing Hyunjin's name at the top of the paper. She didn't look at Hyunjin and immediately started reading the paper.
Once she was done, she took out her pen and contemplated what to write. Despite the fact that this paper was about traditional poetry, she found his word choices to be refreshing, but his grammar was terrible. She wanted to help, but she wasn't a writing tutor. And he would never accept to talking to her for a whole hour. He couldn't even look at her for a minute!
She finally decided on what to write and put the finished product in her backpack.
"Should we sit here?" Bom asked, pulling Byeol out of her thoughts.
"Oh, um, sure." Byeol cleared her throat, responding to her cousin's question. She looked around and saw Hyunjin's back was to them. She sat in the seat across from him.
"So, what did Jeongin say about Hyunjin this week?" Bom once again teased her younger cousin.
"Nothing really. He insists I have to talk to him. I already told him I'm not the one who keeps running away from him every time we're remotely close and that he shouldn't be trying to give me advice. He promised he would talk to Hyunjin for me." Byeol sighed, drinking her milk.
"I say you don't give up. It would be really nice to see the both of you happy." Ara smiled encouragingly.
"Thanks girl." Byeol smiled softly. Bom looked out the window and saw that the sun was shining. She closed her book and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Byeol asked Bom, her mouth full of rice.
"It's really pretty outside. Maybe we should go eat on the grass or something." Bom smiled. Ara shrugged and stood up.
"I'm down. Let's go." She grabbed her tray.
"Ugh, I mean, I guess." Byeol rolled her eyes before standing up and following her cousins outside.
What none of them noticed was the pair of eyes staring at them as they walked out, following their every move.
