The Man: Chapter One

Becky Lynch grabbed her badge and hooked it on her belt next to her gun. Then she grabbed her leather jacket as she walked out of her room. Becky stepped over to Amber's bedroom door and knocked on it.

Becky-''Amber? You don't wanna be late for your first day of college!''

Amber-''I'm coming!''

Amber shouted from inside her room. Becky smiled as she went downstairs to the kitchen. Becky poured her a cup of coffee and started drinking it as she waited for Amber. Then Becky's cellphone rang, she pulled it out of her jeans pocket and answered.

Becky-''Detective Lynch speaking.''

Sheamus-''Hey, Lass!''

Becky-''Hey, Sheamus. How is my favourite biker doing?''

Sheamus-''I'm good. How about you?''

Becky-''I'm good too. What are you and the lads up to these days?''

Sheamus-''The usual. Riding our bikes. When are you gonna join us again?''

Becky-''Not today, my friend. I closed a huge case yesterday and I have a ton of paperwork waiting for me on my desk.''

Sheamus-''Alright. Is Amber ready for college?''

Becky-''Yeah. She's so excited.''

Sheamus-''That's great. Hey, the lads and I are gonna head to Twin Peaks for a camping trip this weekend.''

Becky-''That sounds like fun.''

Sheamus-''You can join us if you're not too busy.''

Becky-''Well, it's Monday....and it's very possible I'll get a case before the weekend.''

Sheamus-''I wouldn't be surprised. You are the best detective in Los Angeles.''

Becky smiled.

Becky-''Thanks. But hey, I'll let you know if I can join you lads.''

Sheamus-''Alright. Chat to you later.''

Becky-''Bye, Fella.''

Sheamus-''Bye, Lass.''

The call ended as Amber came downstairs with all her suitcases.

Amber-''I'm ready to go!''

Becky-''Whoa! Are you going to college or leaving the country?''

Amber-''Very funny.''

Becky laughed.

Amber-''Will you help me get this in the trunk?''

Becky-''Of course.''

They smiled. Becky & Amber carried all of Amber's bags outside and put it all in the trunk of the car and Becky closed it.

Becky-''I'm surprised the trunk could close. You didn't have to pack your entire room.''

Amber-''Hey, I need all that stuff.''

Becky-''Alright.''

Amber-''Come on, I'm gonna be late.''

Becky smiled as Amber got in the passenger's seat. Becky went back to the front door, locked it, went back to the car and got in the driver's seat.

Amber-''Are you sure your boss, Stephanie McMahon, won't mind you being late to work because you're dropping me off?''

Becky-''I told her I was gonna drop you off at college.''

Amber-''Did she say it was ok?''

Becky-''I just told her I was gonna drop you off. I didn't stick around long enough for her to answer me.''
