"Hey kids how'd you sleep?"  I asked.
" Well I had a nightmare so I slept with sissy." Said my little rascal.
" I guess it was okay."  Blake said enthusiastically.
"Why don't you bring your brother up to the park to play for an hour or so."
  "Really mom."
  "Yes. Now go."

She walked to her room.  Five minutes later Blake walks out fully dressed and James is hopping up and down.  They walk out the door and I watch as Blake takes James down the street to the park.  Finally alone time, quiet time, work time.  I pull out the resume sheet and start to fill it out.  I hope I can become the lunch lady at the all boys school not far from here.  I place it carefully in an envelope  and walk outside to place it in the mailbox.  It had already been a half hour.

I looked at my phone three missed calls from Blake.  As soon as I was about to call her back she called again.  I picked up.  "Honey what's wrong?"  I say worryingly.
"Mom there were gunshots not far from the park so we're in an enclosed slide."
"Have you called the police yet and stay where you are and don't make a sound got it?"
"Yes I have.        Mom I got to hang up now love you."
Before I could say goodbye she hung up on me leaving me in my own puddle of tears.
