Elaina sat in her living room, shaking like a leaf. Her adrenaline had skyrocketed as she sat on her chocolate colored couch. She heard creaks and saw shadow figures standing on the other side of her sliding door, almost trying to intimidate her, or send her a warning sign. She started to feel wet, warm tears roll out of her ocean blue eyes as she felt threatened by the sounds and shadows she experienced around her. She decided to call her boyfriend to come over and calm her down.

Jay, Elaina's boyfriend lived about 30 minutes from her, a few cities away. He told her he would join her and be there as soon as he could. Jay knew about her condition, Elaina suffered from extreme paranoia, especially at night. When the sun lowered its bright light, and the moon brought a less luminous one, Elaina felt like she was constantly fighting the darkness. It didn't help that she also suffered from chronic depression, and mixing those two mental illnesses made most nights seem impossible to survive.

Elaina jumped at the sound of three sturdy knocks on the door. Her heart raced as she cracked it open to peer at what was standing there. Jay was wearing his brown, leather jacket and a ripped up pair of black jeans along with his converse. Elaina felt relief slowly flow through her body as she saw the familiar face of Jay on her doorstep. She invited him in, and the second that he sat down, she clung onto his side and laid her face into his chest, breathing in the masculine scent of his cologne.

"It's okay baby, I know it's tough, you can get through it. I know your parents are never home, and really don't care," he stated, clenching his teeth feeling himself get angry at his girlfriend's lack of help and support, "but I'm here, whenever you need me."

"I-I know. Jay, its so hard, I can't do his anymore, it's too much. I am alone 24/7, I love you but you have a life of your own without having to take care of your psycho girlfriend," she stuttered, still having a hard time breathing from her uncontrollable sobbing.

"Elaina, you are not psycho, not in the least bit. You just have conditions that differentiate you from other people. Every person has their flaw or personal demon they struggle with. Some people are just really good at hiding it," he explained, saying all of the right things like he usually did. Jay was the reason Elaina pushed through nights like this and didn't end it all.

"Thank you, babe, you know exactly how to make things okay, I love you so much" she murmured, wiping away her tears and slowing down her sniffles,

"I love you too, and guess what? I am taking you on a date tomorrow, and amazing dream date. I want you to see how much I care for you Elaina," Jay reasoned, tearing up himself. He didn't like seeing his girlfriend in this state and wanted her to know she deserved the world.

"Okay Jay, but can you stay the night tonight? I won't be able to sleep if you leave, please don't leave," she begged, fastening her arms around her boyfriend and squeezing his width.

"Of course," he replied, laying down on the couch and pulling her down with him. Jay wrapped his arms around Elaina and closed his eyes, enjoying her presence before they both fell asleep.

Jay slowly opened his eyes to see the sun shining through Elaina's glass sliding door. He somehow was able to slide away from his girlfriend without her waking up, and went into the kitchen to make the both of them breakfast. He allowed her to sleep and mixed up pancake batter, making enough for the two of them and placing them on two plates. Jay also found some bacon in the fridge and cooked it, then sliding it next to the pancakes on their plates.

"Babe, wake up, I made you breakfast," he whispered, gently rubbing on Elaina's shoulder.

"What time is it?" she mumbled, slowly opening her eyes and feeling her boyfriends soft, fleshy lips meet her forehead.
