"Okay, okay you're right, four cups of coffee probably isn't helping," Allie admitted while she paced back and forth in Chris' office and he watched from his chair behind the desk.
"Sweetheart, you've got to calm down. It's going to be alright," He tried to soothe.
A long groan dramatically came out of Allie's lips while she turned to him and made large motions with her hands as she conveyed, "This is so stressful! I don't know why they want me to present the character designs in this meeting! I'm still new and everyone in that room, including you, have been doing these designs for a long time and you know what they like and what they're looking for. They're going to hate what I've done and I'm going to sound like an idiot and I'm going to screw it up!"
At the end of Allie's rambling monologue that she managed to get out all in one big breath, she let out a sigh and nervously ran her hands through her hair. Chris didn't say anything to her, he just motioned for her to come over to him.
When she was close enough, Chris pulled her down to sit on his lap and held her tight. Allie nuzzled her face in his neck and he rubbed his hands up and down her back to soothe her. She didn't quite know how he did it, but Chris always was able to calm her. He was steady and soothing and she believed him when he told her, "Everything is going to be just fine, my love."
"I'm so nervous though," Allie confided in him.
"I know," Chris sympathized. "I remember when we were doing Frozen and I had to pitch my ideas for Anna and it was terrifying but you know that the meetings are always constructive and enthusiastic. Besides, your designs are amazing and I already know they're going to love them."
"You have to say that because you love me," She teased him, making him loudly laugh.
"No, because I love you, I tell you the truth and I truly think they're perfect," Chris gently lifted her shoulders so he could look her in the eyes. "You already are such a magnet whenever you walk in a room, everyone is drawn to you and they're going to be hanging on your every word. Besides, I'll be in the meeting so you can always see a friendly face."
Allie leaned in to kiss him deeply, making him softly moan before she pulled away with a few soft parting kisses and told him, "I love looking over to see you smiling at me... it makes me feel like I can do anything. You have the most beautiful smile in the entire world and I can feel your encouragement without you even saying a word."
Chris was so touched by her words, he didn't even know what to say. He just held her tightly and gave her a soft squeeze while softly saying, "I love you."
"I love you too, baby," She kissed his neck. "Okay... let's do this meeting."
"There's that spunk that I missed," Chris grinned while she stood up and he gave her behind a soft pat.
"Oooh," Allie giggled, "Do that again and I'll lock the door and make us miss our meeting."
He blushed from her suggestion but mumbled softly, "I wouldn't be complaining."
She heard his comment while he was picking up his things to head to the meeting and before Allie opened the office door, she told him, "I'm thinking I should come over to your house tonight after work and maybe we should lock ourselves in your bedroom."
"Again..." Chris said with his blushing cheeks. "I wouldn't be complaining."
She shot him a flirty smirk before putting a hand on the back of his neck and kissed him deeply, quickly slipping her tongue in his mouth and he kissed her back just as passionately. The two panted as they parted and began heading down the hallway.
Chris grabbed a drink of water to cool his warm cheeks before they headed to the meeting where he helped Allie set up all of her artboards and sketches. Once everyone was in the room, Allie took a deep breath. She looked around at everyone's faces, but her eyes lingered on Chris' kind face that was beaming at her and she instantly felt at ease.
He mouthed 'I love you' to her and Allie couldn't help but grin. She felt so empowered by Chris' support that she began her presentation for all of the head designers and writers. Right away, everyone began expressing their love for the character design Allie had done and she then felt completely relaxed. Chris watched and admired the way she took charge and looked so natural up in front of everyone and he beamed with pride.
Chris could hardly wait for five o'clock to come when the meeting wrapped up and everyone filed out. He stayed silent as he helped Allie collect everything and bring it back to her office but the moment her door was closed, Allie dropped everything, let out a loud squeal and jumped into Chris' awaiting arms.
"I knew you'd be amazing! I knew they'd love everything!" Chris spun her around as he happily praised her.
"Ah! I can't believe it! I swore I was about to throw up like four times but once I relaxed and could read everyone, I actually had fun!" She told him.
He put her back down on her feet and put both of his big hands on her cheeks, holding her face while he passionately kissed her. When he pulled away, Allie's face was flushed and her eyes twinkling with joy. She couldn't help but let out another excited shriek while she bounced up and down and Chris laughed softly at how adorable he found her exuberant joy.
"I have to take my girl out to dinner to celebrate," Chris told her while he hooked an arm around her shoulders and led her out of the office.
The entire walk to Chris' motorcycle, Allie was buzzing and her excitement still hadn't worn off through the entire meal. Chris loved it and soaked in all of her joy, loving to see her succeed and shine so much joy.
"I still just can't believe it. I feel like nothing bad could happen today," Allie told him while Chris helped her on with their jacket after their meal.
"I knew they'd love your drawings... it's impossible not too. You're just too talented," Chris slipped his hand into hers while they walked out and headed down the sidewalk in downtown Burbank.
He was looking at her as she opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. In a split second, he saw all of the color in Allie's face drain and her mouth dropped into a frown. She blinked slowly as she stared straight in front of them and Chris looked but just saw a few people walking along the street.
"Allie... sweetheart, what's wrong?" He was worried.
She stood there completely frozen as she clutched Chris' hand and her eyes stayed fixed straight ahead.
"Oh my god... that's.... My dad."
