Kaliope's POV:

"Run!" A gruff sounding voice had boomed as I continued to run as fast and as hard as my short legs would take me. I had finally escaped that hellhole and I wouldn't stop now, I couldn't stop running!! I wouldn't give up, I won't give up.. I won't give up! My brain was barely producing sentences as I forced my weakened body to keep pushing through the pain. "F-fuck.." I gasped as I stumbled over a deer corpse, falling flat on my face. With a groan I quickly blinked before fainting, the adrenaline finally wearing off.

"Careful with her!" A female voice mumbled as I was being harshly dragged through the sticks and leaves on the forest floor. What the hell is their problem? Dragging me, a filthy little rogue like this. I kept my eyes shut tight so I wouldn't have to deal with any unwanted questions that were sure to come. Two guys continued dragging me for what felt like over an hour until they practically threw me onto a broken down mattress. "Boys, she's seriously sick looking, stop being so rough!" The female's voice boomed at them with Authority and they respectfully grunted and walked out.

"I know you've been awake the whole time, do you have a name?" She mumbled lowly, as if trying not to spook me. "Kali.." I whispered in a hoarse voice, the running and yelling had really done a number on my weak body. She smiled softly and nodded, handing me a plate of buttered bread and a glass of milk. "It's not much but it's all the Alpha was willing to give." After that she stood up and walked out, locking me in a cage.

I looked around suspiciously and then quickly gulfed the bread slice down, not eating in days will give you an appetite for anything. I sighed softly and drank the milk, grateful the Alpha was willing to spare the food. Most Alphas don't, they'd rather beat and abuse... especially the ones I've come across being raised by rogues. I shuddered at the thought and set the plate and cup by the barred door. Moments later a new, shy and collected girl came and collected my plate, apologizing for my being in the cage as if she were to have a say with the Alpha. I nodded and laid down on the broken down mattress, quickly drifting into a heavy slumber.

Sunrise came sooner than expected, my frail body stiff from the running the day before. A loud door was practically kicked open, and heavy footsteps made their way toward my cage. Probably the Alpha's... I thought to myself. Too lazy to open my eyes I continued to lay on the broken mattress, breathing softly as if I was still fast asleep, knowing I probably wasn't fooling the person with heavy footsteps. A loud grunt echoed through the narrow hallway that led to my cage, an impatient loud grunt... shit.

I quickly arose from the mattress to prevent any unnecessary drama with this guy. He stared at me in the most confused and grossed look a person could muster, though my face usually did that. "Why were you trespassing on my land, rogue..."

The way he said rogue made me want to whimper, I wasn't like them, I'd never be like the group that raised me. I looked up and gathered as much courage as I could and opened my mouth to speak.

"I was running away from the group I was raised in, I stumbled onto your land by accident."

He unlocked my cage and motioned for me to go toward the back wall, I quickly did as was told and stood against the wall. "What's your name mutt!?" The alpha demanded as he continued to look at me. I cleared my throat in hope to get rid of the hoarse sound I still had, even though this beast had me caged I still felt the need for him to respect me, or want to respect me.

"Kaliope, my name is Kaliope. To my knowledge I don't have a last name, it's just Kaliope." I spoke while my hand held onto a small locket around my neck. The locket was my only keepsake from what I imagine was from my mother and father.

The alpha shifted his weight onto the right side of his body and then whistled, the shy girl from the night before came running with a plate of food. The plate had a single piece of bread and some sort of meat.

"Eat, I won't have you starve to death before I can get some answers from you regarding your rogue pack." The Alpha spoke as the girl set the food on the ground. He then quickly turned around and locked me back into the cage. As soon as I heard the door that was at the end of the hallway shut, I quickly gulfed down my food like a hungry beast. It had been days since I tasted any sort of meat and my wolf loved every bite of it.

My wolf didn't typically surface because of how weak I am, I'll bet she thinks I'm pathetic but whenever I eat meat or something that she enjoys I can always feel her. It's reassuring most of the time, I don't end up feeling all that different from all of the other wolves. As soon as I finished the food, I set the plate in the same corner as last time and I went to sit on the mattress as my eyes wandered through the cage.

Claw marks were everywhere, I obviously was not the first person or wolf to be held here, and likely won't be the last. Who is this Alpha, what type of alpha is he? I shook my head at my thoughts and rested my head against the wall, closing my eyes to try and catch up on some much needed sleep.
