I watched as everyone began to clean up the room like minions. The place no longer seemed like a cage for wild animals, but a normal dining room.
Children began setting up plates and silver wares as hot aluminum pans of food aligned the tables.
My stomach growled. Man I could use some food.
I looked over at the boy to my left who was just standing there watching.
"You're not going to help?" I asked still annoyed at what he said to me earlier.
He didn't lay a single eye on me, "They got it."
At that exact moment a little girl carrying a large pitcher of water tripped and spilled it all over the floor.
"It doesn't look like it to me," I detested.
"Why did you do that?" He asked piss.
I shrugged innocently. "Did what?"
He looked at me then looked back at the girl. "You know what you did. Go help her clean it up."
I looked at myself up and down still chained to the seat.
"I can't and even if I were untied...what makes you think that I will."
He squated down beside me then pointed to one corner of the room where a guard way older than us stood.
"You see that guy over there, Denis. Just his name sends chills down my spine."
"Oh I'm so scared," I mocked.
"You should be," he answered back all seriously. "Denis is armed with many different weapons. Guns, bombs, axes you name it."
"You can't take one step out of this place without crossing him, and if you do, and if you do," he emphasized, " what makes you think you can survive 5 minutes out there," he said now pointing at the cracked windows into the grey sky.
"You saw what happened before I saved you. It took you less than 10 minutes to be compromised," he reminded me.
"You need me, you need us," he reassured. "So don't push it."
He has a point.
With his eyes now purple he untied the chains around me.
I looked at him as I slowly got up.
"What's is gonna be cupcake?" He laughed.
I smiled to return the favor then levitated him off the ground.
He was right, in that fraction of a second Denis popped out of the corner with a gun ready to fire at me.
Three other big guys who I hadn't seen before also popped out from the corners circling me as well.
"Wrong choice," the boy choked out as the air that gripped around his throat got tighter.
"Put him down!" Denis yelled.
At this point all the kids were looking at me petrified. "Put him down," Alex affirmed popping her face out of the crowd of kids.
"How on earth do you have the same abilities as me?" I ignored. No way in hell am I going to take this oppurtonity for granted. "And what's with these other people and their different eye colors and abilities? And who are you?" I continued unaware of the many questions I was asking.
"P-put me down and I'll explain," he choked.
"Yeah right like I trust you."
"Put him down!" Alex shouted. This time I felt myself being wrapped with some invisible barrier and the boy fell to his feet.
His blonde hair was now a wild mess and in his eyes as he ran his fingers through it trying to look at me clearly.
Both our eyes were glowing as we glared at each other for a long time.
The lights in the room began to flicker. What is this intense force?
He walked closer and closer to me and as this staring contest went on I slowly felt myself losing energy.
Finally I passed out in his arms.
"Wrong choice," I heard him repeat right before I closed my eyes.
