Chapter Four // The Soul Keeper

Hiccup

Ever since the Chief Soul Keeper moved me to earth to patrol the planet for lost souls, let me just say it's been extremely boring.

All I do is wake up, eat, sleep, go searching, eat, and sleep again.

What I'm mainly suppose to do is find lost or troubled souls, and have one of the angels stay with them to help guide them. I sit on top of the roof on a building, staring down at the people. That's when I see a girl walking.

She has platinum blonde hair, which is neatly braided. She is wearing a plain white T-Shirt, and blue jeans with white converse.

I frown, watching her. She has somewhat of an unnatural beauty, and a slight shine. I sense an Angel. But I also sense human.

A Nephilim. I jump down from the high building, landing perfectly. I scare some of the civilians who were strolling down the street, but I don't care.

I found a Nephilim. That's one of the rarest things ever. I zoom to her, grabbing her wrist very tightly to prevent escape. She turns around to face me, alarmed. "Who are you?! Let go of me!" she shouts.

"Come with me Nephilim, or I will immediately send report to the Chief of The Soul Keepers," I warn.

Her eyes widen, and she stops resisting.

************

I take her behind a construction site to a nearby abandoned area. "How are you alive? Supernatural mixed with natural don't usually survive," I question.

She glares. "I don't need to tell you anything," she utters. "Who has been giving you elixir?" I ask. She frowns. "N-nobody!" She stammers, panic filling her eyes.

Terrible liar.

"Don't play games with me. You wouldn't be up and walking without elixir. Who gave you some? Which Angel is being a rebel?" I ask.

"You think I would just tell you so you report it? Never," she states firmly. "What are you?" she asks me.

I squint. "What do you think I am?" I ask. She sighs. "Right, you're obviously a Soul Keeper. Just leave me be- please," she mumbles.

"It's either you give me the name of the Angel who is giving you elixir, or I will take you myself to the Supernatural Court," I warned.

She frowned. "Why does it matter? The Chief Angel destroyed the rest of it!" She exclaims. "Please....look I'm just trying to live. I've done nothing wrong....if you have a good heart you will let me go," she pleads, tears rimming her eyes.

I sigh. "You know I have to take you to the Supernatural Court. I have to," I explain.

She grabbed my arm, shaking me. "No, you don't! You're your own being!" She shouts. "I won't be any trouble, I swear!" She exclaims. I let out a deep breath, running my fingers through my hair.

"Fine...fine," I mumble. She immediately falls to the floor in relief. "Thank you!" She utters. I roll my eyes. "Get up," I state.

"Now that I know you won't sell me out- how about you help me find a Witch?" She asks, standing to her feet and smiling widely.

I squint. "Why would I do that?" I ask, crossing my arms. "Because I need elixir made- I will die without it!" She shouts.

I shrug. "Not my problem. I've already acted foolishly by not delivering you to the Chief," I mention. She pouts.

"One more deed? Please?" She begs. I roll my eyes. From the looks of it, if I leave her on her own she will be dead in no time. Why do I care? "Fine- but after this we part ways," I tell her. She nods frantically.

I touch my amulet, and sense around for Witch energy.

A location comes to mind, and I exhale a big breath. "I found a Witch not far off of Harbor Lane," I say. Elsa smiles excitedly. "That's not far from here at all!" She utters.

I roll my eyes. "Let's go. We need to make this quick. If the Witch refuses to make it for you, I won't help you find another one," I say. She rolls her eyes. "Whatever. I'm Elsa Athena Arendelle....you are?" She asks.

"We don't need to exchange names, we aren't friends," I bluntly say. Elsa groans. "Then what must I call you?" She whines. I sigh. "Okay fine, call me Hiccup," I say, exasperated.

"Great! Let's go Hiccup," she chimes happily.
