Just Friends: Bakugou x Reader

No Fucking Way

(***Disclaimer*** This is a prequel to my other fic Rooms on Fire. This is somewhat of a stand-alone story and will be a collection of one-shots)

First Day:

It was a gorgeous morning as you walked down the sidewalk on your way to your first day at Hideo Hero Agency. You were so thankful that you were able to get a job fresh out of UA. Being the daughter of some of the most notorious villains made you have to prove yourself over and over again. It took years to overcome the prejudice. You still occasionally encountered people that thought you were scum no matter what, but fuck those people. They didn't matter.

You texted your boyfriend Inasa to wish him a good day since it was his first day at his agency too. You two had been dating for a while. At first, you were worried about working at different agencies in different cities, but you two made it work long distance while you were at UA and he attended Shiketsu High so why would this be any different?

He replied back with his usual enthusiasm and wished you a good day as well. You put your phone away as you rounded the corner and approached the building. You sighed happily as you laid eyes on the agency. This was one of the most important days of your life and you would remember it forever.

"Kubo?" You turned around hearing a gruff but familiar voice behind you.
"Bakugou?" You both stared at each other in shock, looked back at the agency, then back at each other.
"No fucking way!"

Despite the brief confrontation in front of the agency your orientation went fine, well...for you at least. Bakugou did his best to play it cool, but you knew him well enough to tell he was annoyed. Your new boss, Makio Hideo, greeted you cheerfully and proceeded to show you around.
"We're thrilled to have some of the top students from UA join us. You two are forces to be reckoned with."
You entered an open area with desks in pairs. "This is the main office. Each shift had their own floor. So if you ever need to work late, you will have minimal interruptions." He pointed to clusters of desks and rambled about who was at which desk. You passed one set of desks with a greasy looking guy who introduced himself as Benta Bunji. You immediately could tell you didn't like him as the creep alarm in your gut went off.

The three of you continued along until you reached a pair of desks by the window. They faced each other so whoever sat at then would be staring at their desk mate while they worked.
"And here are your desks!" Hideo proclaimed.
"Aren't you only supposed to share a desk area with your partner?" Bakugou asked gruffly trying his best be to calm and respectful to his new boss.
"Oh yeah! Well, we decided to pair you together." Hideo said with the thumbs up.
"What?!" You and Bakugou couldn't believe this was happening. You two got along alright at UA, but that's because you always kept a reasonable distance since you two tended to clash from time to time. Being partners was going to be way different. You just started laughing at your shitty luck which only fueled Bakugou's rage.

"Will that be a problem?" Hideo asked, clearly confused by your vastly different reactions. "I decided it would be a good idea since you had previously worked together at your time at UA. And both of you are so strong and capable already I feel no need to pair either of you with a more experienced Hero that would do nothing but babysit you."

You smiled sweetly and bowed. "Thank you, sir. I appreciate your confidence in us. Bakugou and I have worked together many times over the years and I'm sure we'll make an unstoppable team."
Bakugou opened his mouth to protest but thought better of it. Technically, you were right, but he would never admit that to you. He grumbled a half-assed agreement.

"Fantastic!" Hideo clapped his hands together. "Well take a bit to settle in, your patrol starts in about an hour." Hideo handed you both a welcome packet with all the info you would need and left the two of you at your desks.
