What should of been

Chapter 4

Gale POV

As the train arrives at the station and its passengers begin to get off I start to feel nervous. I haven't seen or talked to Katniss for almost 5 years. Plus she probably going to drag Peeta along with her.

As the train arrives I become even more nervous. As the people start to shuffle out if the train cars, I start to look for Katniss. And then at last I see that familiar face I had been longing to see so much. Our eyes meet and I can see that her eyes are red and swollen. I wonder why and then I see a little bundle in her arms. It's a baby... I mean I knew that they (Peeta and Katniss) were engaged but I didn't think they had a child already. I feel a wave if sadness washes over me quickly getting replaced by waves of confusion and anger.

I suddenly see Katniss take a step forward and the break out into a run. She's meet by a big hug. We stay like that for a few minutes but then she suddenly pulls away from me. I feel sadness wash over me, I mean she ran up to me and hugged me like her life depended on it and then she suddenly pulls away from me. Did I hurt her?

I must of said that out loud because she answers my question.

"Sorry we were squishing Rose"

I must have given her a confused look because she then answers, "Rose, Prim Rose to be exact, she my baby."

"Oh yeah I'd forgotten about that... I mean he baby."

I nervous chuckle because I just her baby and thing and I'm not sure if she's mad at me.

She just laughs.

"I've missed you so much Gale, how long has it been."

"It's been about 5 years and I've missed you too...umm Katniss where's Peeta"

Her eyes darken at the mention of his name.

"I left him", is all she says.
