I raced up the stairs and quickly claimed my room, out of the many. Which was practically useless being an only child, but i like to think I got the better deal.

Going through my things, throwing things here and there i stumble upon old pictures, and a valentine.

It was cut into a heart with the words " best friends forever -Mase" written in what you'd expect for a 3rd graders handwriting.

Lost in my thoughts, I couldn't seem to get him off my mind. It was about 8 pm when i finished unpacking. Thats when I decided it was the perfect time to go find him.

My mind was set, I went to my contacts and clicked Mason. It dialed instantaneously, it rang for what felt like hours, but was interrupted by a recorded audio

" this number has been deactivated and does no longer exist".

The phone hung up manually, and my heart skipped a beat. What was i going to do now. I found myself back in my unorganized room hopelessly confused. Tomorrow morning I'll go by his house i thought to myself. Tired and lost i decided to go to bed. Still shaking the idea I was back in Chicago was impossible.

.....

Sleeping in felt great. It was 10am by the time I found the strength to get out of bed, and be somewhat productive. When I went downstairs i was greeted by a note and a $100 bill.

" have a great day ken,Happy birthday! - mom and dad"

I can't believe I forgot.. I turn 17 today.

This couldn't be real, I laughed this was a true blonde moment.

Running upstairs I plugged my phone in and the speakers blasted my pandora. Feeling the need to look good for my special day, i put on my favorite high waisted shorts, and a classic tee. Makeup was done. Hair was done. I looked good

Today was the ideal day. I was gonna get to spend my day with the one person i love the most.

Mason Darway.
