Chapter I: The Arrival
Drama is in every single group these days, but now for me it’s just getting to crazy. When I first got into this group I thought that this was going to be a break from all that. I remember as if it was just last week. I was dating this amazing girl named England. She was just perfection in my eye’s, we were going on our 8 months of being together and I was the happiest I had ever been in my life. The year before I had complications with my back to where I couldn’t even walk, the only person that was there was her. Even to this day I call her my angel. It was the first day of junior year and I was glad to be back. I had no idea what to expect. Now since I was gone for a whole year I didn’t really know many people, the only people I knew were England, Darrel, and Harley. The whole day I was alone, since I didn’t have them in any classes. It wasn’t until lunch that I started to have friends again. Now these were England’s friends, so I had to get them to like me. I wanted them to think that I was good enough for her. At the table it was Monique, England’s BooBoo, she was a really loud person but she was the life of the party. She was the one who knew how to have fun but also knew how to protect her friends. Then there was Sarah, she was the drama queen and she considered England her best friend, she had all the drama in the world, from boys to her dance crew. Of course my best friend Darrel was there. He was like a brother to me and still is, I met him freshmen year. We were both on the football team but wasn’t able to play because we both were hurt. But ever since then we were just brothers to the end. I didn’t know them at the time but I could tell that they were all close. As days went on they would tell me stories of how they used to be back in the old days. Even to this day I wish I knew every single one of them back then. Every day after school we would go by the L Building stairs, this was our “hangout area.” The first time I went to go hang out with everyone, that’s when I met Adam. Adam was always like a scholar. I would always sit down with him and England and he would tell us something that only a scholar would say.
The first couple months of school went like nothing, every day was quick and fun. With friends like these, every day was something to look forward too. Even though I was just meeting these people I felt safe with them. It wasn’t that long until our little “lunch crew” got close to me. They found out that I was someone that they could go to for their problems. I would stay up night after night with them but I never cared. With friends like these and a past like mine, it was worth every minute. For the first semester, England’s and my relationship was stronger… that was until November hit. Now when school was starting it was going to be our 8 month anniversary, this was my longest relationship and I was really nervous. I used to get scared because she was the best girlfriend I had ever had, I was always afraid of losing her. I would go every day trying to make her happy like every good boyfriend should. But I think something happened, I messed up or something. By the time November hit things became different. She wasn’t the same girl that I fell in love with. People may see this and think otherwise but I knew… something had changed. When December came I took her to this play that she had been wanting to go too. She loved it and we were both happy. It was my Christmas present and my One Year present to her and even though it was all my money I would have done anything to get here there. For weeks things seemed to be better. When the New Year hit, I made a vow to make every single day that year a great year for us all… how stupid I was. January came and went, February was a surprise to us. One day during lunch, we were just sitting there and this girl is looking at Darrel. For the first day we tried to get him to go talk to her but nothing ever happened. He was being really shy, so on the third day we got tired and Monique got up out of her chair. She walked over there and got her to come over. Darrel was blushing, we all could tell. We got her to sit down and we tried talking to her, we found out her name was Gabby. She was a freshmen. But this freshmen was crazy, we didn’t know it at first since she was so quiet but we got her to talk and when she did, she was crazy. As weeks went on and she sat more with us she started to like us all. She didn’t really like Darrel more than a friend. She was a little clone of Monique, she was just as loud and she had jokes. From then on she was a part of the group.
