Warriors: The Next Prophecy

Chapter 1

Starkit was now three moons old, and he was starting to get board. He had almost done everything in camp and in the the nursery.

There was only one place he had not explored yet.

Brightstars den was still yet to be explored. But Starkit and his sister Sapphirekit would have to wait till the leader went on patrol.

"Want to play mossball while we wait,  Starkit?" His sister asked. "Ya sure, you get the ball ready. "

Morning had passed and it was evening. Starkit watched as Brightstar padded out of his den to the deputy, Timberfur.

"I will be leading dawn patrol Timberfur," Brightstar said.

The deputy nodded, "very well Brightstar."

"YES" Skykit yowled in his mind. Turning to his sister he meowed, "I'm gonna go for a nap,  please wake me at dawn and we will explore Brightstars den."

"Ok," she replied.

He then padded into the nursery,  finding his mother, Emberflame, in their nest asleep.

Starkit laid down next to her, yawning. He then closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

     "Wake up." Starkit felt his side being prodded. "Its dawn, and the patrol is just about ready to leave get up!" Sapphirekit said pushing Starkit to his paws.

 "Ok I'm coming lets wait for them to go through the bramble wall then we'll investigate." Starkit told her.

     The two kits went to the nursery entrance and watched as Brightstar gathered his patrol and left.

Starkit then glanced around to make sure no other cat was paying attention to them. The only cats out in the camp were, Nutpaw and her mentor, Ravenpelt. They were at the fresh kill pile and concentrating on a shrew they were sharing.

     "That was an excellent training session Nutpaw," Ravenpelt exclaimed. "Just need to work on your balance and a bit on your speed." Nutpaw mumbled something Starkit couldn't make out. She looked sad about something, but he didn't know what could bum her out. Nutpaw was always a happy cat.

A paw prodded him from his thoughts. "We need to hurry before the patrol returns!" she told him. Starkit and Sapphirekit scurried across the clearing to high mound.

Brightstar's den was behind the mass of boulders in front of Starkit. He and his sister padded around the pile of rocks, and stopped in front of a den covered in lichen.

They went in and looked around, seeing a freshly made bed in the corner. They looked around some more and found nothing, just the bed.

"Weird, why is his cave empty?" Sapphire pelt asked. "I have no idea," Starkit responded. Hearing the lichen being brushed passed the entrance the two froze. Turning around they saw the medicine cat, Redpelt.

"Just what do you two think your doing?" the medicine cat snapped, "this is against the rules!" Starkit froze once again thinking that he might get exiled.

"HAHAHA," Redpelt laughed, "you should've seen your faces." Starkit realized the medicine cat was joking and he let the hair on his back lay flat.

"You scared us to death," his sister yowled.

"That'll teach you not to go snooping around, now out with the both of you, Brightstar doesn't like nosey kits!" Redpelt exclaimed. "Go back to your mother, you should be tired after waiting all night for Brightstar to leave."

"You were watching us?" Starkit asked.

"The whole time, now off with the both of you," the medicine cat ordered.

Starkit and Sapphirekit obeyed and went in the nursery. Cuddling up against their mother, Starkit got comfy. His eyes drooped and his muscles failed him. Running around camp must have tired him out.

His eyes crept shut and he fell into a dreamers sleep.
