Michael shook his head at Jeremy, unable to find the words to convey his complex emotions. How could Jeremy do this to him? How could Jeremy, knowing what Squip had done before, knowing that Squip was a narcissistic, evil asshole, go and flirt with him? Didn't he know what Squip would do? What Squip always did?
All of his hopes for a good day shattered to a million pieces. In fact, he was sure that he wouldn't have a good day for quite some time. Michael turned away from his best friend, sadly trudging down the hall.
"Michael wait!" Jeremy screamed out, running to catch up with him. "It wasn't like that, I swear, it isn't anything like that."
Jeremy could try and hide it, but Michael could see it. How he couldn't see it before, he didn't know, but he could see it now: plain and clear. "Jeremy, you said Christine wasn't your type. Why is that?"
Jeremy's face paled, he grabbed the hem of his shirt, fidgeting nervously. Michael saw the internal struggle within him, knew that Jeremy had been struggling with this for a long time. The real reason he and Christine hadn't worked out. Somewhere deep down, Michael had hoped that it had something to do with him, but he could see that it didn't. It had something to do with someone else; namely Squip.
"Michael, don't hate me, please don't kill me."
"I won't, dude, I'll always be there for you man, you're my player two."
Michael tried for a smile as Jeremy shook with nerves. "I, I'm... I'm gay."
The last part came out so quickly, Michael could barely hear it, but he knew what he'd said. Jeremy's eyes were wide, searching his best friend's face for a sign of disgust. Finding none, he seemed to relax, his shoulders lowering slightly. Michael pulled Jeremy into a hug, "Why would I ever hate you for such a thing?"
That's when King Annoying ruined the moment. The moment in which Michael could've confessed his undying passion towards Jeremy, the feelings he himself had not sorted out.
"Maybe he'd hate you for who you're gay for," came the smooth, cool voice of Squip.
Jeremy released Michael a little too quickly, turning to see the tall man hovering before them. His expression was a smug one, too smug. His blue eyes focused on Michael and he sneered, his eyes laughing at him as if to say I will steal everything from you. Including your closeted love.
"Hey Squip, I was just talking to Michael, heh heh, for some reason he thought I was gay and I was just telling him that that was ridiculous, isn't it funny, ha ha..."
Squip raised an eyebrow, eyeing Michael's reaction. Trying to keep his face calm, Michael met Squip's eyes, swallowing down his fear for the bigger man. A flash of understanding lit in the unnatural eyes of the machine. Squip moved towards Jeremy, "You know what's ridiculous? The fact that you honestly think you can hide that you're gay from me."
Jeremy released a squeak, eyes glued to his battered converse. Squip smiled evily, moving Michael out of the way as he lifted the small man's chin with a single finger, forcing Jeremy to meet his gaze. "The only question now is... Who're you gay for?"
The question appeared to confuse Jeremy, but Michael understood it perfectly. It was aimed towards him. It was a challenge. Squip knew about his feelings, and just because he was an ass, he decided to seduce Jeremy. Just to keep Michael from him.
The bastard.
How could Squip, seduce Jeremy, his enemy, a man he's manipulated from the beginning, just to keep Michael from winning?
That was the last straw. This was war now. He would destroy Squip if it was the last thing he did. He didn't care what Jeremy thought he wanted, because it was probably another lie. Jeremy may not be able to see through Squip but he could, and he was convinced that the man, for that's what he was now, was still a monster, despite having flesh and bone.
Squip looked over at him, grinning. Really? You think you have me all figured out do you? A word of advice, never drink Mountain Dew Revolution again.
So the bastard had figured it out, why he'd come back. It didn't matter, Michael would still find a way to get rid of him. Only one question came to him now, who was Jeremy gay for?
And who was he gay for?
