The Titans

Assault

The year is 850. Wall Maria has been breached, the Scout Regiment and Military Police are trying to push the Titans back for the sake of humanity.

"We need to resupply otherwise we will not make it!" Mikasa yelled to Eren as she cut through the nape of a Titan.

"They should be here by now!" Eren shouted back desperately.

"I'll go look for them!" Armin shouted with just as much desperation.

"Hurry, otherwise we won't last." Mikasa replied bluntly as she skids to a stop next to Armin.

Armin nodded and used his ODM Gear to look for backup and supplies. Eren cleared out the last Titan in the area and discarded the last of his blades and refilled his last gas canister.

"I'm out of blades." Eren said without much hope.

"Here. I'll go half on my blades." Mikasa said sternly.

"Thanks. I owe you one." Eren replied as he equipped two blades and sheathed the other two.

As he turned around, Armin came back with supplies and three Cadets. The squads re-stocked on blades and gas, making small talk while they are on the ground.

"I'm Y/N. This is Clyde, Chloe, and Elizabeth." You said casually.

"Mikasa. This is Eren and Armin." Mikasa introduced herself and her friends.

"Where's the rest of your squad?" You asked suspiciously.

"They got killed by those things. Right now, we're all that's left." She replied without any emotion.

"Well, lucky for you, we are the backup. It's not much, but it should help." You said as you finished installing the gas cylinders.

You understood why she never showed emotion. If she did, she would fall apart and be unable to focus on the battlefield. You waited for the others, then headed back out to the battle.

As Mikasa, Eren, Armin, and your squad cut down Titans like it was nothing, an Abnormal came out of nowhere and leaped in your direction. you dodged it, but it exploded.

"What!? Exploding Titans!? Eren, are you seeing this shit!?" You asked with a new fear of them.

"Yeah. These things just keep getting weirder! We need to report this to Headquarters immediately." Eren said nervously. "But it doesn't change the fact that I will kill every last one of them!" He yelled as he rushed in towards a Titan, striking it down.

"Eren! Help!" Armin screamed as a Titan picked him up.

"Armin!" Eren yelled as he weaved between the buildings to save his friend.

"Die you bastard!" Eren yelled, but got cut short when another Titan leaped up and bit his leg off.

"Eren! No!" Armin yelled desperately as the Titan dropped him in its mouth.

Eren got back up and dashed towards the Titan, jumped in its mouth, and threw Armin out.

"Eren! No!" Armin sobbed.

"We will see the outside world together, one day." Eren weakly whispered as he held his hand out. Armin looked on with tears in his eyes as the Titan bit down, severing his arm and swallowing him.

"EREN!" He continued to cry and sob, until Mikasa and you showed up.

"Armin, where's Eren?" She asked sternly.

"Countless soldiers died on the field today. Eren died in my place." Armin cried as he looked at Mikasa with tears streaming.

"Now is not the time to show emotion for the fallen." Mikasa said calmly as she turned to head towards the headquarters.

"I will kill every last Titan here. Whether you're coming with me or not." She said aggressively as she jumped off the roof and proceeded with her personal mission.

"Mikasa! Wait!" A Cadet yelled, but to no avail.

Suddenly, the Titan that swallowed Eren exploded, causing Armin to shriek, shattering his hopes that Eren would come back.

"What is up with these things!?" Armin yelled as a third explosion rang out, this time it devastated half the city in between Wall Rose and Wall Sinu, taking Armin, You, and Mikasa with it.

Timeskip eight hours.

"What? How are we not dead?" Mikasa asked in a state of confusion.

"Armin? Mikasa?" You called them at you lay on the ground.

"What happened? How the hell aren't we dead!?" Armin shrieked fearfully.

"I wish I could answer that. You all okay?" You asked as you tried to get up and collapsed. You looked down to see a discarded blade that impaled you in the explosion.

"Shit!" You shrieked as you released your blade and gripped the other with your handle.

"I'm going to have to pull it out." You said as you gritted your teeth.

"No! Wait!" Mikasa and Armin yelled.

"I can't walk unless I remove this piece of shit!" You said with a grunt.

"If you remove it, you will bleed out. That is the only thing keeping you alive right now!" Mikasa yelped in desperation to keep you from getting yourself killed.

"Fine." You said as you ripped the blade to the side and yelled in pain.

"What are you doing!?" She replied, going pale from what you just did.

"I'm breaking the blade to take some weight off. Maybe then I can walk." You growled as you broke another section of the blade.

Eventually, you broke enough of the blade to take most of the weight off it. You managed to stand but battled to walk. Armin rushed to you and supported you, then the three began to walk towards the East.

"Good thing we still have our gear." Armin said for small talk.

"Yeah. You're right. So Eren, he was a good friend of yours?" You asked casually.

"We've always been friends. Since childhood." Mikasa and Armin both said.

"I'm sorry for your loss. I'll be honest, I never knew him, but in the time I knew him, I know he died honorably." You said with pride.

"He was a good friend and a superior soldier." Mikasa said as she did the salute in Eren's name.

As you walked, a series of roars rung out in the air.

"Titans!" Mikasa yelled.

"We're screwed! We're in no shape to fight and we have no supplies left!" Armin shrieked fearfully.

Suddenly, out of the forest came a Titan, followed by another one stomping on its head.

"Titans attacking Titans!?" You questioned yourself in shock.

As three more Titans emerged from the trees, they pinned the one with the glowing green eyes to the ground and ripped one of its arms off. It roared again and killed another one before getting the other arm ripped off.

"It's not regenerating like normal Titans!" Mikasa gasped upon this realization.

The green-eyed Titan bit down on the other's neck and threw it over, killing it before collapsing. The nape opened up to reveal Eren. Mikasa's blood turned cold as she ran up to him. She placed her ear on his chest and heard the thumping of his heart.

"Eren…" She muttered weakly and begun to sob into his chest.

"EREN!?" Armin yelled with a mix of happiness and concern.

"He's alive!" Mikasa shrieked happily.

"But how!? I saw him get swallowed! His arm and leg also grew back?" Armin questioned everything, but is happy to have him back.
