The sun was going down at about the middle of the evening. The orange haze entering my messy apartment. I stare out onto the bright sea in hopes of excitement to occupy my tasteful life. I feel like I have no purpose, that I am broken and cannot be fixed. That I will be ultimately bored of the same routine every day. This probably isn't how one such teenager should be thinking, but It's what I've learned to have felt.
In my hand is a chilled, glass bottle of my favorite soda. I drink away at it until it's finished. Which then, I grab another, and repeat the process. Proceeding to stare out at the glow of the dying sea. After a while, I feel as if the sunset is going on for hours. Yet... it isn't. I check my clock and it reads 7:15. I set it back down and continue what I was doing. I look back about 5 minutes after and it still reads 7:15. Am I stuck in a time loop formed by the thought in my dreamscape? Why isn't time progressing? Why is this happen? I glare back out the window and something is hurtling fast towards my apartment building. I run and quickly take cover behind my couch.
The impact was incredibly strong and the flying object broke through my glass door leading out to the balcony. What the hell just happened? I peer over the couch to find a person sitting inside what looked like a pod. The door opens and the figure reveals itself. It's a girl, with the face as pure as the sun and the body as rugged as a junkyard. She was a robot... Before I knew it, I fainted right there and then. When I woke up, my apartment was fixed, and the pod was laying on the floor. My eyes flutter open to see the girl sitting in front of me as I lay on the couch with my head propped up. Who was this girl? And why had she come here? What even is she? I could only ask one at this time...
"...Who are you?"
"I don't know. I was not programmed with a proper name. What of you, human?"
"Echo... My name is Echo..."
Authors note: It's short, but it's a prologue to a book I've wanted to write for a while. Expect more writing from me very soon.
