"So how did you end up here anyway?"
There was a long pause, so I thought maybe it was bad to ask. He finally started speaking with a hint of regret in his voice, "I was a stowaway on a ship. After a while, some guys found me hiding in the cargo. They stuffed me in a crate and just threw me overboard. I was starving, but thankfully I ended up here just about a day ago."
"Wow, that seems kind of creepy."
"It was, I guess. So how did you end up here?"
"You don't really want to know. It's not that great."
"Come on, if it isn't such a big deal, just tell me."
I honestly didn't want to talk about it because when I usually just think about it, I cry. So saying out loud isn't any better. Plus, if I cried in front of this cute guy right now, that would be a pretty embarrassing. I decided to just tell him.
"I... I was on a cruise with my family. We usually never really got along, but on the cruise, it was nice. We all seemed so happy together. During the middle of the night, some pirates snuck onboard and took everyone hostage. They killed everyone one by one. I escaped onto a lifeboat, but before I could escape, I saw my entire family be killed right before my eyes. They chased me and cut me while I tried to escape, but it wasn't too serious. Eventually, I just drifted here and I've been here ever since."
"Oh, now I see why you... I'm sorry."
"It's fine."
I noticed that a tear was falling down my face, but before I could wipe it off, Kyo came up to my face and just wiped it for me. It felt sort of... romantic. I felt all warm inside, like I never have before. Since Kyo had nowhere to stay on the island, I offered to let him stay in my shelter. We hunted for a while and found some good meat and a couple of roots to roast over the fire. I thought it would be awesome if there were pigs here to make some bacon. That sounds really good right now, plus some ramen would be epic.
While Kyo and I were eating, we were telling stories about our homes and I told him about good areas on the island like the pit that animals usually got trapped in, the stream, the hot spring, and my two favorite spots. One of the spots was for stargazing and the other spot was just for relaxing. Kyo thought that maybe this would be a good night to go look at the stars, so I took him to my favorite stargazing spot. Trees surrounded the spot, but if you looked up, there was a giant hole to see the beautiful, starry, nighttime sky.
